Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Crys ASMR. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Crys ASMR, so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?
It is no doubt that I experienced burnout through out my journey. I overcame it when I listened to my body and really said to myself it is okay to take a day off or two. The hardest part was stop being hard on myself. For 3 years straight, I’d post every day. I just remind myself, it’s okay. I avoid it by having a schedule.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
my name is Crystal. I was born and raised in Miami Florida. I have to say I was an extremely extroverted child. I had a crazy imagination & said I was going to get interviewed lol .. I worked in all type of 9-5 jobs & I learned a lot from it. In high school I wanted to have a YouTube channel but life was pretty boring then. I worked as paralegal, Sales, even as a HR & studied American Sign Language/ Web Design. I knew about ASMR in 2015. Later late 2019 I finally made my first video. It was just a hobby that I had, after work, super tired, I’d grab my camera with no lights or mic and start recording in hopes one day I’ll have views. 2020 came along & it was full forced, Fast forward happy to say I collaborated with brands such as Good American, Wet n Wild, VERSED & so much more. The best part of my niche is the people I meet. I help my Audience relax & sleep. I am looking forward for more opportunities & perhaps open up a business.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Persistence, Resilience, & Consistency. Creating is extremely fun but is not for everybody. You really have to actually love it. I edit my videos, I plan the videos, and more. Working with brands is a higher commitment because you have a script on want to do. I had millions of moments to quit. It’s quite time consuming just like any other side jobs , it’s all how much effort you put in. You can’t give up on this game.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
Breaking The Habit of Being Yourself by Dr. Joe Dispenza. Growth comes from within, no matter what I did in the outside to feel happy and complain, I had to remind myself that mindset is everything. I pay close attention to how I talk about myself, my videos &success. You really have to be your own fan first & change habits that don’t serve you anymore. It’s a process but I am getting better each day.
