Meet Hanzhang Mao

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Hanzhang Mao. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Hanzhang below.

Hanzhang, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
My confidence comes from creating narrative works using illustrations, comics, and animations. I love observing life and building my own inspiration repository. I enjoy using my boundless imagination and creativity to inspire people and make them happy.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Hanzhang Mao. I’m initially from Nanjing, China. Graduated from MICA Illustration Practice program, I love creating creating narrative works using illustrations, comics, or animations.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The most valuable qualities, in my opinion, are judgment, execution, and confidence in one’s own abilities. For those just starting their illustration careers, I believe it’s important to identify the narrative forms they excel at. After that, long-term learning and practice are essential. Be eager to continuously acquire knowledge and skills, and trust that you can keep improving.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I want to find artists including narrative artists, fine artists, musicians, and enterprisers to collaborate on projects such as joint ventures, performances, and art exhibitions.
