Meet Beckah Jackman

We were lucky to catch up with Beckah Jackman recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Beckah, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

As a working single mother and business owner my resilience has come from a combination of sources and experiences. Being a lone parent and sole provider, giving up has never been an option. Just this past May I celebrated 10 years in business, 10 years of wins, losses, financial hardships, a cross country move, and everything in between.

When things are going well you feel like you’re on top of the world and that you’re actually doing it, making your dreams a reality – but then come the bumps in the road. I can’t tell you how many times these “bumps” have made me want to throw in the towel and just look for a 9-5 to alleviate the stress of being a business owner. Yet time and time again I look to my kids and how blessed I am that this little business I built from my kitchen has allowed me to be present in so many aspects of their lives I was missing before.

As the market and economy have changed in the last few years I have pivoted my business and reignited my passion for entrepreneurship. Last year I expanded Birchrose + Co to BODY by Birchrose – a hands on approach to connect with my clients and community with not only Birchrose + Co products but also offering wellness services.

BODY by Birchrose is based in Brea, Orange County and is located inside The Grand Salon. My new business venture, BODY by Birchrose offers Lymphatic Sculpting, Glow Lymphatic Facials, and EMSculpting.

Resilience isn’t just about bouncing back from the tough times in business; it’s also about growing stronger because of them.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Beckah has been in the holistic beauty space for over 10 years, in 2014 she created Birchrose + Co – an intentionally formulated line of body, home, and wellness products that promote mindful + slow rituals. Birchrose + Co products are meant to turn your daily rituals into sacred, relaxing moments, with products that both achieve tangible results as well as encourage you to create your own elevated beauty ritual and make the luxury spa experience accessible in your own space.

Around two years ago Beckah was struggling with a hormone imbalance, candida overgrowth and reoccurring rupturing ovarian cysts, which led to weight gain, depression and overall frustration. Being a primarily plant based and active person and still not seeing results with bloating and weight gain led Beckah to explore alternative solutions. After scheduling her first body sculpting and lymphatic drainage treatment she was enthralled. Not only did the treatments help with bloating she felt less sluggish too – combined with her active lifestyle this was the tool her wellness toolbox was missing, and with consistency the weight gain started to diminish.

This ignited Beckah’s passion, it was a pivot that made sense for Birchrose + Co, to bring these wellness treatments to other women and mothers who have struggled with similar body struggles. BODY by Birchrose was ultimately formed to provide both body and facial services while utilizing Birchrose + Co holistic offerings, a beautiful synergy that helps our clients LOOK and FEEL their best.

Beckah is certified in Body & Facial Sculpting, she is a certified Aromatherapist, as well as being trained in Brazilian Lymphatic Massage, and holds a degree in Business Management, Graphic Design & Marketing.

Beckah is a proud mother to her two amazing adult children (daughter is a hair stylist at The Grand Salon and son is a Cyber Defense Operator in the Marine Corps) and a grandmother to a beautiful baby girl.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

One of the qualities/skills/areas of knowledge that were most impactful to my entrepreneurial journey was my background in Graphic Design and Marketing, being able to design my own product labels, build my website and strategically market myself to my target audience helped me to land my goal account – Urban Outfitters – within my first year. I would also say my ability to adapt has been a huge asset in navigating an ever changing and competitive market; taking things as they come and just rolling with the punches.

The best advice I can give to someone who has just started they journey is fake it until you make it, make your brand look as if its already successful and take up space in your respective market. Don’t be afraid of failures, they don’t equal failing, use them as an opportunity to learn and overcome.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

Atomic Habits by James Clear was 253 pages of common sense that smacked me upside the head as I read it. As a serial procrastinator who has a hard time sitting still just getting through the book was hard enough, but the no nonsense realistic approach of the tools the author provided made so much sense. To this day I still tell myself I only need to be 1% better daily, and I continue to use the habit stacking methods whether it be with work, fitness, or home life to make subtle daily improvements.

This book increased my awareness of old routines that weren’t serving me or my business goals and encouraged me to slow down and make mindful decisions and really look and my daily habits, both good and bad.
