Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Frank Parisi . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Frank, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Being a person in long term recovery, I knew that I wanted to give back and help others the way it was done for me. I now endeavor to do that for others outside of the recovery community as well. Becoming a father also made me want to help other men become the best version of themselves so we can all have an impact on our future generations.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I come from the streets of New York City and now live in Austin, Texas with my wife and young son. My story is of an underdog defying the odds and spreading the message that anyone can do the same regardless of where they started or where they are now. My mantra is “Embrace Abundance” and I recently authored a book by the same name that will be released shortly. My book is part memoir and part blueprint for helping others rewrite their story to emerge victorious. I am also launching a coaching program with a focus on fitness and mindset to help others work on their mindset and physical health.
In broad strokes, I escaped the street life and a troubled upbringing. I am a recovered opiate addict, and through service and working in the substance abuse field, I have helped thousands of men on their road to recovery. I am an avid weight lifter and always prided myself on my healthy lifestyle. Last year, at 43 years old, I unexpectedly went into complete heart failure and was misdiagnosed for some time as doctors did not consider that someone who looked like me would have a failing heart. On June 3, 2023 I underwent a heart transplant. I have had to completely redefine my life and I have built myself back mentally and physically beyond what anyone could have imagined. I have created internal assets and unbreakable agreements with myself so that no matter what life throws at me, I am up for the challenge. I focus on five pillars – faith, family, health, hustle, and purpose, which have allowed me to overcome unbelievable hardships and I feel more inspired than ever to help others do the same. I feel like I can reach not only addicts and alcoholics, but countless other people as well given these recent events. I want everyone to embrace their abundance and WIN!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I always keep my swords sharp, meaning I am always focusing on personal development, evolution, and elevation, so I can overcome any challenge – even a failing heart.
I focus on who is around me and constantly audit my circle. I need to be surrounded by people who are mentors, people walking the same path I am and working on improving, or people I am trying to help. The people you surround yourself with has a huge impact on where you are heading in life.
I focus on the pillars – faith, family, health, hustle, purpose. I remain disciplined in all aspects of my life as I am a firm believer that discipline + consistency = results and success.
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
I have become exponentially more grateful for every minute of every day. I almost lost my life, I do not want others to have to go through that experience to get to a place of gratitude and embracing life. I would like to spread that message for them and hopefully they take it to heart.
I am present in ways I never was, especially for my family. I pour into my young son. He is my WHY. I am spending every moment I can with him and soaking it all in. Our kids become who we are. I want to be the best version of myself so I can share that with him and with the world.
