We were lucky to catch up with Josefina Delaveau Eguiluz recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Josefina, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Well, I get resilience from the bad experiences I had in the past. Each of those situations, while incredibly difficult at the time, served as a crucible for my character. Whether it was overcoming personal struggles or navigating professional challenges, I found myself standing at the precipice of adversity, with no option but to be resilient.
The beauty of resilience is that it’s not innate; it’s cultivated through adversity. It’s in those moments of despair and uncertainty that we discover the depths of our strength. I vividly remember times when giving up seemed like the only option, but something within me refused to surrender. That inner resolve, forged through the fires of hardship, became my greatest asset.
What I’ve come to realize is that resilience is not about avoiding hardships, but rather about how we respond to them. It’s about finding the courage to face adversity head-on, knowing that on the other side lies growth and transformation. Each setback I encountered became an opportunity for introspection and self-discovery.
Moreover, I learned that resilience is not a solitary endeavor. It’s about leaning on the support of loved ones, drawing strength from their encouragement and belief in our ability to overcome. Their unwavering faith in me, even when I doubted myself, served as a beacon of hope in the darkest of times.
In hindsight, I’m grateful for those challenging experiences, as they shaped me into the resilient individual I am today. They taught me the invaluable lesson that strength is not measured by the absence of adversity, but by our ability to rise above it. And while the journey may have been arduous, the destination was well worth the struggle..
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Hi, I’m Josefina.
At just 24 years old, I’ve already experienced more than my fair share of challenges. I lived through a toxic and abusive relationship on 2023 that threatened to break me. But I didn’t let it.
Instead, I found the strength within myself to not only survive but to thrive. And now, I want to share my story with the world. Because if I can make it through, I know others can too.
Writing has always been my passion, a way for me to express myself and make sense of the world around me. And now, it’s become a tool for empowerment. My upcoming book delves into the darkest moments of my life, but it’s also a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.
But I’m more than just a survivor. I’m a woman with a love for business and finances. I’ve always had a knack for investments.
In my free time, you’ll find me lost in music. I love to sing, write songs and play the guitar, finding solace in the melodies that speak to my soul. I’m also an avid runner, finding freedom in the rhythm of my footsteps against the pavement.
And when I’m not pursuing my passions, I’m off exploring the world. Traveling has always been a source of inspiration for me, reminding me of the beauty and diversity that exists beyond my own backyard.
I know that my journey from victim to victor is a story that needs to be told. And if it can inspire even just one person to find the strength to break free from their own chains, then it will all be worth it.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Every day, I draw strength from my faith in God as I navigate the ups and downs of life. It’s this unwavering belief that gives me the resilience to face whatever challenges come my way.
In terms of skills, I’ve come to realize that my greatest asset is my ability to adapt and learn. Life is like a game, and every experience is an opportunity to grow and evolve. Whether it’s overcoming obstacles, honing my writing skills, or delving into the complexities of business and finance, I approach each new challenge with an open mind and a willingness to learn.
One piece of advice I’d offer to those seeking guidance and clarity is this: write. There’s something incredibly powerful about putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) and expressing your thoughts and emotions. Writing allows you to explore your innermost thoughts, uncover hidden truths, and gain a deeper understanding of yourself.
Through journaling, you’ll discover insights about yourself that you never knew existed. It’s a journey of self-discovery that can be both enlightening and transformative. So if you’re feeling lost or uncertain, take a moment to write. You might be surprised at what you uncover.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My dad has been my unwavering source of light throughout every dark moment I’ve faced. His presence, his words, his unwavering support have been the guiding force that has carried me through the toughest of times.
Whenever I found myself shaking on the edge of despair, it was his voice I needed to hear, reassuring me that I could overcome any obstacle, no matter how insurmountable it may seem. His belief in me never wavered, even when my own faith faltered. He stood by my side, a beacon of strength and encouragement, reminding me that giving up was never an option, but that I need to choose my battles.
He taught me the invaluable lesson that no matter how dark the night may seem, there is always a glimmer of hope on the horizon. And with his steady hand to guide me, I know that I can weather any storm that comes my way.
