Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Zahra Shah. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Zahra , we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
I am inherently a generous person, a trait I believe runs in my blood and was passed down from my parents. Generosity comes naturally to me, and it brings me great joy and inner peace. I consider it my spiritual strength. Truly, generosity is a quality associated with prophets.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a multitasker, excelling in various fields including acting and business, which I consider a bonus. However, my true passion lies in filmmaking and storytelling through visuals. I began my filmmaking journey under the banner of ARUAMZ PRODUCTIONS, specializing in corporate documentaries, TV commercials, short films, and more. I thoroughly enjoy my work, as filmmaking comes naturally to me, and turning this passion into a profitable venture has been particularly rewarding. My clients are highly satisfied with my work. Looking ahead, my next step is to venture into cinema in the coming years.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My best qualities are tolerance, silence, and observation—all essential traits for a filmmaker. I’m a deep thinker and writer, crafting stories that touch human emotions. My skills also include exceptional camera work; I am well-versed in handling cameras and thinking outside the box, resulting in highly appreciated shots. I believe in the lifelong pursuit of knowledge, as even a little knowledge can dispel much ignorance. It’s crucial to continually work on areas of improvement and absorb as much knowledge as possible. For me, understanding the basics of filmmaking was essential, but I went further by studying various topics that interested me. This broadened my perspective, made me more composed, and allowed me to infuse unique elements into my filmmaking work.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
Family structure is crucial. Having an extremely supportive father, a caring mother, and siblings who are successful in their respective fields is truly fortunate. My siblings have always helped refine my skills and motivated me to achieve great things. Even though filmmaking is unfamiliar to them, they have been instrumental in my personal development. My father, in particular, has been my backbone, consistently motivating me and providing financial support to help me achieve my goals as a filmmaker. He is also an avid reader, and although I embraced reading later in life, it has profoundly changed and groomed me as a person.
