Meet Aixa Machuca

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aixa Machuca. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Aixa, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
In the midst of my walk, which I honestly had not understood, I went through various complex situations, until when I opened my heart to God I was able to understand how he took care of me in everything, and in His presence I was able to understand my purpose in this walk.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m married, a marriage restored by the Grace of the Lord. We have 2 children, and 1 granddaugther. We lived for several months in hotels, we were able to see and feel another side of the needs of families and communities. Ebenezer Ministries is born, our organization was established over 8 years ago.  We offer several programs that integrate our most vulnerable population which includes, but is not limited to the homeless population, children, families, individuals with disabilities and our seniors.
Our mission is to continue to have a direct impact within our community by serving in gratitude, with an open heart and mind which will lead to decrease homelessness, mental health, trauma and food insecurities for children and families.
We provides integrated services that are free of charge.  It contributes to the wellness of children, families and individuals that need supportive services.  It highlights the dignity of human kindness in our community by providing access to nutritional foods and a host of services that include but is not limited to the basic necessities of life.   Some of these services include providing families with access to nutritional foods, water, soap, basic hygiene kits, clothes, shoes, socks, nutritional hot meals, hair-cuts and warm bathes.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Definitely humility, conviction and Faith. I can advise you to always be humble, recognizing that we are in God’s hands, a real conviction, sure of what we believe and the Faith that God will do his will.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
I am going to pray, only in the Presence of God can I find strength, rest, serenity, peace, comfort, I gave him my burdens and he makes me rest.
