Meet Celeste Gomez

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Celeste Gomez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Celeste with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

My work ethic came from my mom. She couldn’t work for a job due to her illness. So her main job and priority became us, her kids. Despite the struggles she went through, she always did what was best for us. Seeing her strong spirit really motivated me to fight for my dreams and build something for myself.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m an Author of the Poetry collection, Besos. I started writing at a very young age. I started performing poetry when I was in college and fell in love with it. I’ve always been a creative person and mixing performance with my writing is what I love to do. I’m working on solo projects that incorporate music and visuals for my poetry and will be experimenting more creatively. My brand is everything Latina. Celebrating the empowerment of women and POC. When Besos came out, it received its first partnership with Scentcraft to get its own perfume. I’m working on a merch launch as well. I want poetry to be mixed in writing, music, and fashion. I’m also working on a tour.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

When looking back, I would say the three skills that helped me propel myself to where I am now would be: resourceful, quick, and openness. I was also looking for new resources on how to improve my mental health, wealth, and living situation. Being resourceful with allow you to expand your network and knowledge so you can become the person you want to be. Being quick, is my strongest attribute because it allowed me to quickly learn and relearn things that would better my future. When you are quick to learn it helps you out in the long run. Then lastly, openness. Just being open to new perspectives and opportunities that come your way and being open to learning something new each day is extremely valuable.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I would love to collaborate with other musicians and singers. Poetry plays an important role in music and it would be fun to collaborate together performance wise or even in the writer’s room! If you’re interested in collaboration please DM @celestealyssagomez via Instagram.
