Meet Aasia Moore

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aasia Moore. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Aasia with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I would have to say my work ethic comes from my mom. She raised my sister & I by herself. I watched her work 2 jobs while getting her bachelor’s degree then after she graduate with double masters at usc. So I incorporated her work ethic into my life. I started my own nail business called Pretty Girl Nails and also went back to school. When I first started I was thinking this is going to easy or not as challenging but geshhh I “thought”. I had to learn the skills, invest, build clientele, and running the business. There were so many times I wanted to just quit cause i started getting overwhelmed with everything I didn’t know. My mom, family & friends kept motivating me and I stuck to it. I couldn’t afford to take myself to school in the beginning so I was working a 9-5 and after I would do my business even in my off days. I was able to save up took my self to school and received my license. Just looking back now my mom never had an off day she was always working towards better & i have applied that to my life

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a license nail technician located in Los Angeles,Ca the name of my business is Pretty Girl Nails. I specialize in nail health which is really important to me. I feel as though most people have a misconception that any nail enhancements can damage the natural nail which isn’t true. My services include gel manicures, acrylics, gel-x, hard gel & pedicures. My brand is about self confidence making people feel & look pretty inside & out! The most exciting part about my job is creating process & being able to express myself though art. I would have to say the most special part about my job is my clients they are amazing women & men that I’ve grown to love. They have become friends, mentors and each other’s therapist. I do have new products that will be launching soon which is my own press on nails line which I’m excited about! I absolutely love love love what I do! I’m so thankful & blessed on my business journey.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The quality that was most impactful in my journey is consistency! CONSISTENCY is so important & it’s how I’ve became successful with my business now also build up my confidence in my work. Another quality is being open to to constructive criticism or help from others. If I have to give advices to people in the early stages of their journey is to give yourself grace growth doesn’t happen over night. Also, don’t compare yourself to what others are doing they started from somewhere. Find your own lane, make your own rules and be yourself it will show in your work and the right clients will gravitate towards you.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed I’ve learned to slow it down, focus on one task and it’s okay to take time off. I’m practicing on not feeling overwhelmed because I have so many things I want/need to do & trying to do that all at once is very very overwhelming. So now I’m make a list from most important to important and I’ll make my schedule based on that. Also when I feel overwhelmed from working long hours & week i call them “sign off” breaks were I just take a weekend were I focus on myself nothing business related.
