Meet Johnny Ketchup

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Johnny Ketchup a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Johnny, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

Honestly. I got tired of being picked on as a kid and found a way to be noticed.. .
I noticed that the Radio was playing these great songs and everyone was paying attention to it. I thought to myself , Hey, There is someone at the other end of that radio making the music come out of it . Getting people’s attention . Why can’t that person making music be me ? I grabbed a hand full of my vinyl records one weekend and took them to a party. The other kids loved it. That’s when I realized that Music was going to be a Huge part of myt life . In fact , it would become the Focus of my life .

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Its Not all fun and games in Rock n Roll , But i do my best to make things happen that way. There was a time when I was young , that the Mantra was Sex, Drugs and Rock n Roll, That’s what it was like as a kid in the 80’s.
We had all of those great bands we listened to and in our own way , we worshipped them and tried to live the lifestyle that the songs were About . Party Party Party !
I was a Scrawny kid and didn’t fit in to Sports , But I was also Goofy so I didn’t fit in with the smarter kids either.
One day I Showed up to a party with some records , The Scorpions , Judas Priest , and the likes. The kids were THRILLED at the music I was playing .
Right then and there I knew MUSIC was my savior.

Today I am the Front man of what has been described as The Worlds Greatest Drunk Rock Punk Rock Band .
“The Quits !”.
( many of our songs are about having fun drinking at parties, were not actually Alcoholics LOL )

Or Better yet , Ivan Deprume of WHITE ZOMBIE said , and I quote , ” Blazing
Punk Rock Music done True to its Roots ” and ” These guys have the ingredients to take on any big crowd, capture them, Then make them go absolutely Crazy for More “.

I have dedicated myself and the Character I have created “Johnny Ketchup ” to bringing joy and entertainment to the masses.. It is now what I live for.

I find no greater please than to see the smiles on the faces of an Audience as they jump around and have a great time as I direct traffic from the stage.. I have one job and one job only . To get the kids dancing. it doesn’t matter what kind of dancing as long as they are having fun and moving to the music .
I think if every entertainer thought that way, it would be Wonderful.
We at THE QUITS hade made an Intentional Choice Not to include controversy about Politics or religion into our music. We simply do not find the need to Alienate our potential fans. The more , The merrier .

When I am not on the stage , I am radio show host on METAL KROSS RADIO. ( Just Google it )

Back to the Band . we have several events lined up as well as a new campaign.
We have a Mascot / Figurehead , it is something that folks can see to connect it with the band . It is a Character created by Johnny pee of the legendary Comedy Rock band Green Jelly , 9They are actually in the Guiness Book Of World Records).
The drawing is that of a Rocker girl with Green Hair and Green eyes. We call her “Malicious Quits”.
WE now have a merch Girl that dresses up as her to bring attention to our Brand and Logo . As of late , we have been blessed to have had Multiple artists take it upon themselves to create her in many forms With the intent to create a Comic book of ” The Misadventures of Malicious Quits” .
Basically its about her adventures on the road with the band . we already have a lot of the book done and we are excited to get it to our Merchandise table as soon as possible.
How nice it would be to purchase the magazine , Get it signed and a Photo with Malicious Quits while you are at it. We’re also considering a Clothing line to go along with it . Mini Skirts. Hats, Crop Tops. Jackets. Swim Wear. All of which are Green like her Eyes and hair.

We don’t over book ourselves , we like to keep the audience waiting for more. currently we have dates at

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Above all things , I believe Patience, Perseverance and compassion win the day. It takes a lot of kindness and understanding to lead a band . without it , you have Mayhem and conflict.

To anyone starting their Adventures in Music. You are going to go through a lot of changes and growth. Listen to your Peers and those that have already blazed the trail. You Best friends might not give the best advice. They will be afraid of hurting your feelings when you need the truth told to you about your music. Believe me, if you are terrible, you need to know that BEFORE getting on stage . Other than that . Do YOU and do it well.
Look , I don’t know if I have any knowledge , Or Skills , Or talents . I just know that I have one job to do . To make you feel like dancing . As an Entertainer, that is my Sole purpose . To make others happy. So happyt that they cannot stand Still

I think its a great idea.
Yes, There is Rap in Rock and Vice Versa , But we are OLD SCHOOL punk Rock. That’s not something you find to include rap
