Meet Isaiah Palacios

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Isaiah Palacios. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Isaiah, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
I believe I keep my creativity alive by staying connected with my child-like self. I also believe that staying open minded and observant of what’s around me helps me keep my creativity alive as well. Being connected with my child-like self reminds me of the little joys you can find in life, and to think like a child. The mind of an adult versus the mind of a child’s is obviously different. Children are still super curious about the world and more than willing to learn and try things again. Keeping that mentality alive in me, to some extent, most definitely helps me stay creative. I believe being open minded and observant to the things around you allows the universe to bring more creativity into your own playing field. When you view what’s around you as a sign or a symbol, and you are open minded to what that may mean, creativity can come from anywhere and creativity is everywhere.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Isaiah Palacios, also known as “ZAY P.” is an up and coming independent artist branched out from New Mexico. Born a dreamer and go-getter, ZAY P. truly brings a different vibe to his music. Whether it’s sad or fun, the self-taught musician has a track to suit your mood. “I don’t like the whole idea of labels and categorizing myself to fit in one particular box”.

The musical journey for this New Mexican born and raised artist began back in 2019 when he uploaded his first original piece of work onto the streaming service SoundCloud. “Songwriting and music has always been a big part of my life growing up, and it’s just cool now to have my own music out in the world that someone might just relate to and sympathize with.”

Currently based in Los Angeles, California, ZAY P. has also lived and shined a light in Colorado and New Mexico as well. “My music changes, you won’t find me stuck inside one genre. I believe me making music is my way of leaving a trail behind of my stories and views on life that will live beyond me.”

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I believe that the three qualities that have been most impactful on my journey are being kind, being humble, and being caring of those around me. The advice I would have for anyone early in their journey would be to be kind to everyone you meet, don’t burn your bridges, and be grateful, no matter where you may be in your journey. It is important to enjoy every step, and the highs and the lows. It is all temporary and it is important to allow yourself to feel all the feelings that come with life.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
When I am feeling overwhelmed i like to journal. Journaling is an outlet for me to let out whatever is on my mind, and to help alleviate any stress I may be feeling. My journaling then translates into my music, and gives me an outlet to vocally express my feelings. What also helps me the most when I am feeling overwhelmed is remembering how small we are in this gigantic universe. Of course problems and issues can feel enormous at times, but at the end of the day it is never that serious. When I remind myself that we are all just a tiny part of something bigger, my mind feels a little more eased. We literally all come from the same cosmic dust and particles of space.
