Meet Malcom Rauch

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Malcom Rauch. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Malcom below.

Hi Malcom , great to have you with us today and excited to have you share your wisdom with our readers. Over the years, after speaking with countless do-ers, makers, builders, entrepreneurs, artists and more we’ve noticed that the ability to take risks is central to almost all stories of triumph and so we’re really interested in hearing about your journey with risk and how you developed your risk-taking ability.

I had to be willing to take calculated risks, in order to reach my full potential or reach my goals. Without risk there is no reward. Not every risk is going to be successful but the risk we take can lead to better opportunities & a better life. I had to step out of my comfort zone & learn to love the feeling of being uncomfortable. You have to be open to taking calculated risks

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Ive been doing stunt work as a stunt actor since 2012. But unfortunately the gigs weren’t always consistent due to the roles & competition so for a few years I wasn’t on any projects.
In 2020 I was in the XFL draft pool, my goal was to play in the 2020 season, & continue my football journey. With Covid showing up out of no where, it took a turn for the better actually.
The league folded due to the pandemic & it had me an uncomfortable position. More of a sink or swim position…
A few months later I never ever would have thought i would be doing tattoos. Behind the scenes I’ve always been an artist at heart but it was more of a hobbie. I took a risk & fully committed to starting a tattoo business, thanks to a family member that gave me the idea.
3 years later that risk I took led Me to having a successful business which I enjoy a lot. Being able to bring pieces to life can be stressful at times but more therapeutic not for just myself but even for my client. Especially the sentimental pieces, being able to see my clients facial expression, the confidence & joy it brings to people makes my job worth it. Unlike a lot of artist nowadays, just do it for the money. I have a passion for being an artist & creating pieces.
Going into 2023 I thought I would be strictly only doing tattoos. I got a big opportunity to work with a production team that I started with back in 2012 working on a show called All American as a stunt double & stunt actor. Which I’ve always loved to do because I enjoy playing football, but I also love being on set seeing it all shot & come together. I’m currently still working on the shows 6th season. Looking back at it, the pandemic was definitely terrible for a lot of people but a blessing for some like myself. I love & enjoy everything I do.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

One great quality that helped me was being optimistic, be hopeful in everything you do. You can’t always have expectations because expectations can led to disappointments when things don’t plan out your way. A skill to have is learning to take L’s & grow from them. Let this motivate you to be better at whatever skill you have or trying to master. When working on your skill don’t ever compare your journey to another persons, that can throw you off your path and the way you think. Your journey is what makes you great, learn to enjoy the process in other words learn love being uncomfortable.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

I have a team which are pretty much like my brothers. We are like one big family, but we work as a team. Each of us have a different skill set. Most of us have multiple skill sets.
But we definitely fuel off each other and motivate each other. Being surrounded by individuals like that can definitely help you in your journey.
Overall, the things that help me as well, overcome challenges, and to have great qualities is always working on myself whether it’s spiritually mentally physically emotionally.
In the mornings, I like to stretch and meditate, I’m always listening to great uplifting music with great vibes. but I always try to do something that is always beneficial to me and my well-being.
