Meet Cidic Vicious

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cidic Vicious a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Cidic, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

My confidence and self-esteem came in 2 phases. The 1st part came in the 3rd-4th grade when I started playing basketball on teams. I had to develop the confidence in my game to score like I did on the black top. Also I was always made fun of for having big ears. I had to learn to block all that out, and know that people will always talk and it’s just words so who cares. That translated into when I got older and took up playing guitar and doing vocals for bands. You can’t be scared on stage, so I would just always remember that not everyone has the bravery to get up in front of people and perform. It takes a special skill that I knew I possessed, so I went with it. The best decisions I’ve ever made in my life!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m a self-taught musician. I play guitar/bass, I write my lyrics and songs while also taking and editing my own photos. Furthermore, I took control of so many jobs for my art due to not being able to find legit people for the job outside of people in the industry. Not to mention the time aspect. I feel like if I just do it myself, then I’m in control of when things move, and how it moves. I’m trying to create a community, with that being said I find it important to be involved to the core. The music I’m creating is something more than the poisoning of the mind and spirit, my intention is to give self-esteem and confidence back to the mind and spirit. To empower what I feel society is built to destroy. I feel like once that important aspect is put back into humanity, it’ll open up doors we’ve never imagined for ourselves individually and collectively as a species. All of that is what excites me and motivates me on my path. Nothing else truly matters to me but that, GOD put that on my spirit, so I HAVE to follow it.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The most important things I developed on this journey has to be 1 being a self-starter. Being self-motivated has been super important for maintaining focus and drive. 2 has to be encouraging myself. You’re not always going to find that support from the outside, so I found it important for me to encourage my own moves. I’m my biggest cheerleader in an industry full of possible haters. Lastly, always being a sponge. I’m always willing to learn new things to push my agenda forward. I know being self-taught that I don’t know everything, which is why I remain open to new things.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I’m ALWAYS willing to collab with like minded people. Skill level has never mattered to me, what matters is the level of drive and dedication the person has. See to me a person who’s driven has more fire to succeed than the person who went to school, or was taught and believes they now know everything. I personally have met those types, and more often than not they’ve turned out to be disappointing. My ultimate goal is to have a solid band with me, but if I have to figure another way…I WILL!
