Meet Cara D’Adamo

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cara D’Adamo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Cara, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

I come from a family of resilient and strong women. My Mother, Grandmothers and sister have faced hardships and adversity from different aspects of life and have always taught me that true strength lies within. When we live our authentic truest selves, we honor what it means to be an artist. Being both an entrepreneur and artist, having faith is an essential part of my foundation.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a Brooklyn, New York Native Artist. Since an early age, I have had a passion for music and acting. I come from an Artistic family, my Father is a musician, my Mother is a sketch artist and my Sister is a Union Hair Stylist. I grew up surrounded by the beauty of art and all its forms. I started her early years performing in musical theater productions, choir and comedy shows. My first televised performance was for Nickelodeon at the age of five. Since then, I have made an impact in both the music and entertainment industry. Over the years I have performed in a group with Atlantic Records, music videos with Grammy Award Winning Artists, and acted in stage, film, television and nationwide commercials. Right now, I am currently working on multiple projects and started my own production company called Faith Over Fear Studio And Productions, to help teach and mentor younger artists. Faith over Fear specializes in photography, videography, artist mentorship and classes. My goal as an artist and entrepreneur is to create works that inspire, engage and translate through the medium of music and art.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Staying true to yourself and being authentic in a world that is consistently trying to change you, is the greatest and most valuable piece of knowledge that I have learned. It took years for me to find my voice and sense of truth. Only through experiencing life and all of its glory, have I truly felt my sense of purpose as an artist.
Art is the hope that changes the world, it is meant to inspire human connection and transform lives. Our best works of art is developed by living life. It gives a voice to the voiceless, awakens new perspectives, ideas and brings people together.
We as artists have the ability to create change for the better, starting with the stories we tell, the work we make and the lives we influence. Art Matters.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

My parents have always been my greatest supporters. They are both artists and encouraged me to pursue music and acting at a very young age. Having supportive parents really impacted my ability to learn and grow more as an artist. Seeing my Dad perform every week inspired me to learn how to sing, write and dance.
