We recently connected with Tania Hryciuk and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tania, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Honestly I believe our purpose changes in life as we change and grow. Each time I’ve found my purpose, was due to a life event that changed who I was at the time.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’ve always been a creative person. From the time I was little, I watched my Dad and learnt several skills from him. Over the years, I’ve been a chef, painter, decorator, florist a real Jane of all trades. I’ve had to reinvent myself many times over the years….A mother of three grown children and a wife of 26 years. Putting my career on hold for many years to raise a family has been on of my greatest achievments.
I feel the most at ease when I’m creating. Whether it was creating a floral arrangement or redecorating homes, that’s when I feel most at peace. Currently refinishing salvaged furniture has definitely been another labour of love. Redesigning 50’s, 60’s and all other furniture fills my soul. Taking a piece and saving it from the landfill for others to enjoy for many decades is my goal. When I’m working on a piece, I do t have a plan and let the piece tell me what it wants. (Sound strange, I know )
I guess it’s pretty cool to think my art is in other peoples homes although I don’t see myself as anything special….I trust that the universe has given me the talents I have for a reason. Until my body tells me I’m done, this is who I am now and will be grateful to do what I do.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I would have to say, three qualities/skills that were most impactful were my ability to think outside of the box and create something useful to others…the vision to see what others can’t and a drive to never give up no matter how many curve balls are thrown my way.
I would tell others, if you believe in what you are doing, do it with integrity and honesty. Trust in your abilities even if you question them and never give up on a dream.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
My ideal client is anyone who can appreciate what I do. Someone who values the quality of the pieces I refinish and the amount of attention to detail I bring forth. Someone who wants something that is unique and different and understands that these pieces are not cookie cutter and mass produced.
