Meet Jewel Kaio

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jewel Kaio. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jewel below.

Jewel , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I began my journey towards developing confidence and self-esteem by recognizing the detrimental impact of constant comparison to unrealistic standards, particularly those perpetuated by online media. Instead of solely focusing on changing what I saw, I realized the importance of changing how I perceived myself. This transformation started with deliberately surrounding myself with supportive individuals and positive influences that celebrated authenticity and inner beauty.

Through meaningful connections and exposure to diverse perspectives, I gradually learned to appreciate my unique qualities and embrace my imperfections as part of what makes me beautiful. Building a supportive network empowered me to challenge negative self-talk and cultivate a more compassionate relationship with myself. It wasn’t an overnight process, but with time and dedication, I’ve developed a newfound sense of confidence grounded in self-acceptance and genuine appreciation for who I am.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My journey has been a kaleidoscope of creativity, entrepreneurship, and personal evolution. It all began over six years ago when I discovered my knack for social media marketing, a talent I honed through diverse ventures.

In 2018, I founded IndieFest, an annual showcase event celebrating local artists. Handling everything from marketing to hosting, I poured my passion into elevating emerging talents. This endeavor ignited my entrepreneurial spirit, leading me to launch an online crystal store in 2020. Through branding, graphic design, and content creation, I connected people with Earth’s natural treasures.

Now, I’m embarking on a new chapter with Kaio Digital Marketing, a firm dedicated to empowering start-up brands, creators, and small businesses to establish their online presence. My journey hasn’t just been about helping others; it’s been a personal odyssey of self-discovery and growth.

Beyond my professional ventures, I immerse myself passionately in the world of content creation. From streaming Overwatch 2 on Twitch to crafting captivating vlogs on YouTube and engaging reels on Instagram, I thrive on sharing my passions and experiences with my community.

In 2021, I embraced cosplay as more than just a hobby—it became a catalyst for my fitness journey. Inspired by strong female characters like Mirko from My Hero Academia and Ryuko Matoi from Kill La Kill, I embarked on a quest for physical strength and vitality. Now, I attend conventions, refining my crafting skills to bring these characters to life authentically.

My story is one of continual growth, fueled by a relentless pursuit of authenticity and passion. I look forward to the adventures that lie ahead, both personally and professionally, as I continue to make my mark on the world.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three qualities that stand out most to me as pivotal in shaping my path are adaptability, creativity, and resilience.

My advice for those starting their journey is to embrace change as an opportunity for growth and to never stop being curious. Continuously seek more and more will come.

Creativity comes from exposing yourself to diverse spaces, thoughts, ideals, influences, and experimenting with new ideas. Failures are not an end-point, they are part of the creative process.

Becoming a more resilient person means realizing that setbacks are opportunities for learning and growth. Keep moving, keep pushing, and keep ever-evolving.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I find myself overwhelmed, I prioritize self-care and seek to quiet my mind and ground myself when it seems like the world is spinning too fast.

I lean on the support of friends and loved ones. Sharing my thoughts and feelings not only provides emotional relief but also offers valuable perspectives and reassurance.

Additionally, I’ve found solace in decluttering and creating a harmonious environment. Cleaning and organizing my spaces not only serve as a productive outlet but also bring a sense of order and calm to my surroundings. Lighting candles with soothing scents and playing uplifting music further enhance this atmosphere helps me unwind and recharge both mentally and physically, along with ending up with a tidier space.

Instead of allowing heavy thoughts to consume you, try to focus on breathing and embracing the present moment and gently guide your thoughts away from chaos and toward a sense of inner peace.
