Meet Paige Thom

We were lucky to catch up with Paige Thom recently and have shared our conversation below.

Paige, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

Overcoming imposter syndrome was my greatest hurdle when launching my business. Not just due to my lack of prior entrepreneurial experience but also my limited exposure to the wedding industry. To combat the insecurity, I concentrated on aspects within my control where I excelled. Drawing from my background in sales, I focused on delivering exceptional customer service and genuinely prioritizing my couples’ satisfaction. I trusted that with dedication, I could acquire the necessary knowledge and skills over time. Identify your strengths, believe in your ability to grow, and seize the opportunity to learn and adapt.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Let me give you a glimpse into my world as an entrepreneur and high-end wedding planner across the US. Honestly, there’s nothing quite like diving into the whirlwind of planning someone’s special day—it’s my ultimate joy.

But you know what’s been just as incredible? Watching myself grow into my role as a business owner and leader. It’s been a journey of self-discovery and learning that’s been so fulfilling.

As a wedding planner, my vibe is all about making the journey as stress-free and fun as possible. Because let’s be real, if you’re not enjoying the process, what’s the point? I’m all about creating a relaxed, upbeat atmosphere for my couples so they can soak up every moment.

And guess what? We’ve got some seriously exciting news! We’re taking our show on the road, folks! From coast to coast, we’re expanding our reach to bring our magic to couples all over the country. Whether you’re dreaming of a city chic affair or a rustic countryside celebration, we’re ready to make it happen, wherever you are.

So get ready to join us on this adventure filled with love, laughter, and endless memories. Your dream wedding is just around the corner, and we can’t wait to make it a reality. Cheers to love and all the good vibes!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back on my journey, three things stand out as absolute game-changers. First: sales skills. Now, I’m not talking about those pushy, in-your-face tactics. It’s all about the art of genuine connection. Listening to your client, understanding their needs, and offering them a solution that truly speaks to them. Authenticity is key here.

Next on the list: killer customer service. If you’re in the service game, this is your bread and butter. Learning how to go above and beyond for your clients and teaching your team to do the same sets you apart from the crowd. Stay humble, stay open, and always put your client’s needs first.

Last but definitely not least: teamwork. As a wedding planner, you’re the captain of the ship, but you’re not sailing solo. It’s all about fostering a spirit of collaboration among your team. No egos, no competition—just a group of vendors working together toward one goal. So, my advice to those just starting out? Hone those sales skills, master the art of customer service, and embrace the power of teamwork. You’ve got this!

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal client? It’s all about building a solid relationship. I thrive when I connect with couples who feel comfortable and at ease with me from the get-go. I want them to know they can share their wildest dreams, deepest concerns, or just shoot the breeze anytime. That openness lays the foundation for trust and confidence that we’re in this together, making their vision a reality.

Once that bond is there, the planning journey becomes a joyride. And when it comes to style? No cookie-cutter approaches here. We tailor each wedding to the unique personalities and dreams of the couple. So, it’s less about a specific aesthetic and more about vibing together and creating something magical.

Bottom line? My ideal client isn’t defined by a particular style or taste—it’s all about that special connection and collaboration. Let’s make wedding dreams come true, together.
