We recently connected with Taylor Ross and have shared our conversation below.
Taylor , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
From a very young age, I knew what I wanted to do with my life professionally. I wanted to act, sing, and be an entertainer since age 5, but my true purpose came after a lot of things that happened to me. Although my purpose changes every season I’m in, it always includes helping others find their way as I find my way overcoming hard obstacles.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m an actress who loves to bring important stories to life that inspire and give hope to others. I hope my most recent project, LA Taylor, does just that.
The story is about a young woman who finds joy in life again after losing her father the previous year. This subject is very near and dear to my heart because, I too, lost my father at a young age due to his mental illness.
LA Taylor not only moved me professionally, but also personally. So much so, that I hope to create a podcast community of people that are working on self esteem, self love, and emotional intelligence. As we do that, our life choices will begin to reflect health, respect, and happiness. It’s in our overcoming terrible choices we made, due to our intense need to be loved by others, that we actually find and love our true selves.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The qualities that have been most impactful in my acting journey include self esteem and self confidence, being open to learning and perfecting my craft, and being a person who never gives up.
I found that the more I developed these qualities overtime, the better I became, not only as an actor, but also as a person.
The best advice I can give is to be flexible and patient with yourself as you evolve and grow, both professionally and personally.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
I don’t recognize the person I was a year ago, and I mean that in the best way possible!
I grew up a lot this year, and not to sound so cliché, but I’m actively growing into the person I want to be. Both on screen and off.
My biggest areas of growth are
1.) I don’t need to prove my worth to anyone
2.) I’m finding laughter after so much pain
3.) I’m becoming a more devoted actor, person, friend, etc.
4.) and most importantly, I’m perfectly imperfect!
All of these new areas of growth are shaping a bigger and better reality for me!
