Meet Robert Banghart

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Robert Banghart a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Robert, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

I overcame imposter syndrome slowly overtime with great mentorship and direction. I was a year sober and began working in specialty courts. Thrust into a setting that I was once on the other side of I had strong fears that I could become an active part of the process and succeed. A hearing master took me under her wing and guided me, helping me find my voice. That is a theme in my journey that I’m grateful for that each time I thought I wasn’t going to be able to there was a mentor there for me to lean into and guide me through.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am the Outreach Director for the Shine A Light Foundation and the Director of Community Engagement for Crossroads of Southern Nevada. The work we do at both organizations is centered on helping those experiences homelessness and addiction to recover. We believe that by utilizing and connecting the community and not working in silos we can better serve our city and those in need.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

My advice to anyone would be to identify what your purpose is first and foremost. Let your purpose lead your decisions and find a mentor that you can learn from.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

The two people that have helped me throughout my journey and believed in me are Jeff Iverson and Paul Vautrinot. They have guided me and been mentors to me in all phases of my life. Consistently push me to be the best version of myself and challenge me to reach higher.
