Meet Jada Watts

We were lucky to catch up with Jada Watts recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jada, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

I would say my resilience comes from my family and the experiences I’ve been through. Growing up, I spent a lot of time with my grandparents, who were both blind from childhood. In the 1980s, they were a mixed-race couple raising seven children on their own. My grandpa went to work while my grandma managed the household. They never let their disability or societal views on blended families hold them back. My grandfather graduated from Southern Illinois University in the 1970s with a Bachelor’s degree in sociology, being the first in his family to earn a college degree despite the limited resources and technology available for the blind at that time. There are many more aspects of my family’s story that contribute to my resilience, but it all definitely started with my grandparents.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Unrecognizable Fit is a women’s activewear brand that launched in January 2023. Our mission is to inspire women to love themselves at every stage of their fitness journey. I started the brand during my own personal fitness journey. Since May 2022, I have lost 60 pounds and have been dedicated to helping and encouraging other women in similar situations.

My favorite thing about Unrecognizable Fit is its limitless potential. We have collaborated locally and been invited to numerous pop-up shops in the Chicagoland area. I am looking forward to more fitness-related collaborations to help bring women closer together as a community. We are also expanding our sizing to 3X to align more closely with our values. We want women to feel confident and comfortable in our activewear as they transform into a more Unrecognizable version of themselves.

We have a new collection coming out soon, expected around August, called Back to the Basics. This line will offer a wider range of sizes and include unisex items so everyone can enjoy our products. We are excited about this collection and have been working hard on it, so stay tuned!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

**Courage, Endurance, Faith**

When starting anything new in your life and it feels uncomfortable, you’re going to need courage. The courage to start and pursue your dreams. The courage to reach out to others and use your talents and gifts to help those in need. The courage to go against the grain and stand out from the crowd.

Endurance is also essential when pursuing your goals because most worthwhile things take time to fully develop. Unrecognizable Fit is still in its early stages, just under a year old. There is still a long journey ahead, but if you show up for yourself every day, you will eventually reach your goals.

Do it scared, do it alone, but always do it with faith. Have faith in yourself and your dreams—they belong to you and no one else. If you don’t believe in them, why should anyone else? This faith is what has kept me going because I believe in my brand and in myself. I am committed to helping as many people as possible find their way.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

The one book that put a lot into perspective for me was, ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki.

Quote: “So much of life is out of our control. I’ve learned to focus on what I do have control over: myself. And for things to change, first I must change.”

This part of the book reminded me that everything starts with you. If you want something, you have to stand up for it and make the change. Just talking about it won’t magically turn a situation around—it’s action that creates true go-getters.
