Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Adrian Monique (Artic Laelle) Dixion. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Adrian Monique (Artic Laelle), appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Oh my gosh! Experience aka Life, Being knocked down so many times or told “no” will either hinder you all together or just make you come harder each and every single time. It’s like I’m going to knock down the doors if you don’t want to open them because the entertainment industry will know just who I am and then once you’re exposed to this talent life has blessed me with you’re going to be glad I did!
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m Adrian or Artic! I think Artic is like my alter ego. She’s confident and has no fear whereas Adrian is a little reserved but going after the career I’m seeking Artic is who I’m learning to be more of!
I’m and aspiring actress, wait No! I am and actress and comedian, motivational speaker on the side. We have to claim it and manifest because God already said it’s so! I believe that some of the most inspirational stories come from people like me, people like me that were dealt a ugly hand from jump but refused to allow that to be where they remain. I believe because of what I lacked is one of the reasons my primary goal had been to make people laugh and just bring a little bit more happiness in their life prior to me entering it. I know all to well having to encourage and love on myself because I lacked that coming up but hey I’m here and I’m still going nothing has stopped me and nothing will stop me. It’s not over until I win, so life can be extremely hard sometimes but I’m harder and mark my word’s everyone will see and know just who Adrian is really soon.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Number one for sure would have to be My big mouth! I no longer allow people to shut me up and sometimes that’s all it takes, God has blessed me with this voice for a reason. I think I’m going to use it.
Don’t get me wrong although I’m a talker I’m also a listener, I believe that no matter how accomplished a person is their is always someone a tad bit more accomplished and experienced that you can learn from so talk, yes please but know when to shut up sometimes and just listen.
I’ve said it before but I have to say it again life, experience it’s taught me just how far resiliency can and will get you. I guess what am trying to say is I had this notion that my dream would’ve came to fruition by 23 and I didn’t and it was the minute I had to accept stuff like this doesn’t happen on your time. It happens when life says okay it’s your turn now and that may be 23 for some or 32 for others but if you stop and give up when it doesn’t happen when you think it should’ve then I’ll guess you’ll never know so I’m big on keep going. I’m big on get knocked down a couple of time’s, rejected, but keep going, keep trying, it’ll happen and you have to believe that with every part of your being and continue to work towards it. It’s predetermined and yes I’m an optimist through and through so that helps me too!
Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
Marketing myself as and upcoming comedian and actress.
It’s been difficult because I just didn’t know where to start. I mean of course, casting calls, classes, yes but I mean with social media overcoming the initial fear of possibly not being accepted or people not thinking entertaining or funny. I have a very distinct voice, some say it’s irritating and some become mesmerized so I think it’s me learning how to present things with my voice that’s been the hardest for me or most frightening. It’s a little high pitched and some describe it as a 24/7 baby voice but I can’t help it and no before you ask I can’t sing! I wish I could.
