We recently connected with Karina Blanco and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Karina, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
In my case, my resilience comes from the desire to overcome everything I missed or lacked during my childhood. I wanted to break the pattern and be someone that others could reach out to for help instead of always being the one who needed it. That inner drive has helped me focus and overcome anything that comes my way. And, of course, having a great support system—family, friends, and your spouse—makes a world of difference. That doesn’t necessarily mean they will solve the problem for you, but rather be there to hold your hand through tough times.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a branding expert currently working at a marketing agency as a Branding Manager. I also have my own business focused on branding for startups, small business owners, and personal brands. I started last year and am currently in the process of launching my website. My brand is called Elevating Brands, and you can find me on Facebook and Instagram.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I would say that the main qualities that have impacted my journey are empathy, adaptability, and passion. There will be many setbacks and situations that make you doubt why you started, but when you love what you do and it brings passion into your life, it becomes easier to overcome and adapt. This helps you find solutions and get back on track without losing sight of what’s important and why you’re doing what you do.
As for skills, something I’ve learned along the way is to communicate clearly and transparently. This has helped me build genuine relationships with my customers and teammates.
By leading others, I’ve learned that the best thing you can do is present yourself as you are, without being afraid to show your weaknesses, because that is what makes you real. If you want to create a real connection with others, being honest and owning who you are is always the best path to take.
My advice for you is to be yourself, have an open mind, and be a team player. There’s no right or wrong way to make this journey; each one of us has something unique to offer to the world. You just need to find YOUR way of doing it. Just remember that you shine the most when you uplift others.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
I believe there isn’t just one person who has helped me get to where I am today. Along the way, I’ve encountered beautiful, smart, and capable people who have shared different insights and knowledge with me. They have been patient and kind enough to support me until I could stand on my own. I am beyond grateful to all of them for being a part of my life, both past and present. Everyone you meet leaves you with a lesson, and there’s always something you can take even from bad situations.
Find people who uplift you and want to see you grow.
