Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nadia Arambula. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Nadia, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from GOD! My mom taught me about that Supreme Power not only by words but by her actions. My mom was a woman of great faith and resilience. I vividly remember her praying every morning and every night. Through her actions, she demonstrated what true faith is—trusting in the Supreme Power that gives us purpose and hope. This belief is the superpower that helps me overcome the adversities I face, developing my resilience. I saw my mom depending on God and His Word, which strengthened her during her most difficult times. She fought the good fight, and until the end, she always had a smile on her face and a servant’s heart. This is what I learned from her—where to find resilience and how to live it.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a dancer and a teacher of Mexican Folklorico Dance. Since I was five years old, I have been practicing and mastering this art form. At nine, I started choreographing and teaching others in my city, Guadalajara, Mexico. By the time I was sixteen, I started teaching professionally. I was also an exclusive dancer of the Ballet Folklorico de la Secretaria de Turismo, Jalisco, which allowed me to travel around the country and perform in Washington, DC for a government event. In 1999, I immigrated to the USA to share the Mexican Folklorico Dance, and I established my own Folklorico group, Ballet Folklorico El Tapatio de San Dieguito, with now about 60 dancers. I am passionate about my work and teaching, which involves not just the act of dance, but also sharing culture, heritage, diversity, art, creativity, music, rhythm, leadership, discipline, excellence, professionalism, teamwork, commitment, perseverance, and resilience in my students. They also develop beauty in their physical expression. It is exciting and satisfying for all of us, not just the dancers but also the parents and family, to see the process of their children becoming dancers of excellence. It gives me great satisfaction when they perform in front of big audiences who admire their performances and exclusively designed costumes. This satisfaction makes all the hard work, time, and financial investment this profession demands worth it. To give a taste of what I’ve mentioned, I want to share about our upcoming signature event, Celebration Mexicana, in its 3rd anniversary. This event showcases the rich Mexican culture through traditional dances and outfits from various regions of Mexico. Dancers of all ages will showcase new dances and outfits. If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three most important qualities that have impacted my life the most are excellence, perseverance, and hope.
Excellence – Always strive for excellence in everything you do, even if people do not see it, as it will pay off.
Perseverance – Do not give up on your visions and dreams, because if you can see them in your mind and feel them with your heart, you can achieve them.
Hope – Focus on the good things in your life, which will make you believe in a brighter future, not just in your life, but in the world.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
We are looking for partners to assist in promoting our work. My expertise lies in creating and teaching Mexican Folklorico Dance. While I have the support of my dancers’ parents for promotion, we could benefit from partnering with experts in strategic promotion. This will help us increase our financial resources and achieve two of our main goals. First, we aim to own a dance studio that can accommodate all our dancers and provide storage space for our outfits. Second, we aim to own a bus to transport our dancers to performances, which would save time and money for the dancers’ parents.
