Meet Nikki Blogs

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nikki Blogs . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Nikki , thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

Creativity, for me, has always been my gift to express myself freely. Whenever I feel my creativity wavering or facing a moment of difficulty to express myself, I take a moment for myself to get out of my own head; do things that bring me joy. It might be listening to my favorite song or watching a movie from my childhood to center myself. With creativity it’s about thinking freely but not overthinking. Fueling yourself naturally so that expressing yourself outwardly won’t come as a challenge.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’ve always referred to myself as a hip hop head; nowadays, I consider myself a Content Curator, sharing and popular information but doing it with a unique perspective. That perspective is sharing information garnered by the African American community. From music to politics, keeping people in the know is what I do best.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

My passion for popular culture is what keeps me doing it. Of course you must be driven and focus on whatever you pursue, but the passion for it is what will keep you going when you are the only one rooting for yourself.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

I was raised in a single parent household; alongside a strong grandmother. Those two women taught me the importance of God and sticking by your family. I was raised with love and compassion. Which means the feelings I had toward things and my goals were never turned away. This gave me the sense that I could do anything that I put my mind toward.
