We were lucky to catch up with Kaitlyn Foster recently and have shared our conversation below.

Kaitlyn, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

Being in the jewelry industry, I often find myself as the only visibly disabled woman in the room. In a field where beauty and design are paramount, I have learned not to compare myself to others. Just like beauty, success is in the eye of the beholder.
When I walk into a room, I focus on my unique journey and stay true to Love Random Life’s core values:
‘Love’ is passion and deep connection. For instance, at a recent industry event, I connected with a fellow metalsmith who became good friends, and we plan to collaborate in the near future.
‘Random’: Embrace the thrill and unpredictability of life’s journey. One memorable experience was meeting a customer who shared how Revalia helped her feel confident during a job interview, illustrating the impact of our jewelry.
‘Life’: Take a moment to appreciate and enjoy the beauty found in everyday experiences. I often find inspiration for new designs when doing mundane tasks.

Love Random Life was born from my recovery from mold exposure. During that challenging time, I worked tirelessly, even when no one was watching. As people discovered and wore Love Random Life jewelry, I was motivated to work even harder. Success is defined by the goals I set for myself and my business, not by comparing myself to others.
I’ve achieved significant milestones by focusing on creating jewelry that tells a story and adapts to life’s unpredictable moments. For example, one of our customers transformed Revalia from a brooch to a pendant during her wedding day, showcasing its versatility and personal significance. At Love Random Life, we celebrate individuality and the beauty of life’s random moments. Our flagship piece, Revalia, embodies this ethos, seamlessly transitioning between a ring, pendant, and brooch.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a jewelry designer specializing in convertible jewelry. My designs allow people to wear their pieces in multiple ways, with the only limit being their imagination. This versatility makes my work both exciting and challenging as I constantly push the boundaries of how we wear and perceive convertible jewelry.

At Love Random Life, we believe in creating jewelry that seamlessly integrates into your everyday attire, becoming a part of your signature style and story. Our flagship piece, Revalia, exemplifies this philosophy. It’s a patent-pending 6-in-1 jewelry piece that can transform from a ring to a pendant to a brooch, offering endless possibilities for personal expression.

Love Random Life is a California-based brand deeply committed to sustainability. We are passionate about our impact on the environment, which is why we use recyclable metals in all our creations. Each piece is crafted with care to ensure it not only looks beautiful but also aligns with our eco-friendly values.

What excites me most about my work is the feedback from our customers. For example, one of our clients shared how she wore Revalia as a ring, and when her fingers started to swell during pregnancy, she transformed it into a pendant that she now wears every day. 1. Goal-setting: Consistently setting clear and achievable goals has been crucial. Each year, I write down my goals and stay focused on them, even during challenging times. This practice has helped me stay on track and make steady progress toward my dreams, ultimately building Love Random Life into a brand known for its innovative and versatile jewelry.
2. Persistence: Building Love Random Life has been filled with obstacles and self-doubt. However, my relentless drive and determination to keep pushing forward, regardless of the challenges, have been critical to my success. Persistence has transformed my vision of creating transformative jewelry into a reality, resonating with those who value personal expression and sustainability.
3. Networking: Connecting with industry professionals and learning from their experiences has been invaluable. I have had the privilege of amazing mentors whose guidance helped me discover opportunities and essential courses for my growth. Networking has opened doors and provided the support needed to thrive in the jewelry industry. When I started Love Random Life, I aimed to learn about pearls. I kept setting new goals by reaching out to industry experts and finding relevant courses. After years of hard work and dedication, I now have a thriving jewelry business celebrating the beauty of life’s random moments.

The book “The Compound Effect” by Darren Hardy played a significant role in my development. One of the most valuable lessons I learned is the power of consistent, small actions. Even when healing from mold exposure, I understood that doing just one thing daily for my business could make a significant difference over time. This approach helped me stay motivated and steadily progress toward my goals, no matter how challenging the circumstances.
