Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Barbra Wollner. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Barbra, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
A lot is just diving in head first, sink or swim. I recently spoke at the Book Festival of the MJCCA, which I had never done before and, frankly, was a little nervous to do. I worked up the courage, practiced, pushed through, and got it done. Once I finished my speech, and it resonated with the audience, I realize that it was a task that I could actually manage. And not just that, but I could thrive in that high-pressure environment. We all like to stay in our comfort zone, but, if we stay there, we won’t grow and surprise ourselves with new skills.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’ve been a real estate agent for over 20 years and, in 2015, I started the Wollner Group with a vision to personalize the home selling process, one family, one house at a time.
I have a strong focus in the Dunwoody area, but I specialize in the entire Atlanta market. My deep knowledge of the entire market that helps me provide a custom experience for each client. Because I focus on creating a truly personal experience, my portfolio of clients has been built through referrals from happy home-owners.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities that have impacted my journey are: 1. Flexibility
2. Openness to trying new things
3. Joy in the process
Walk through the doors that are opening in front of you. If you have several clients that want to be investment buyers, take that on as an opportunity to learn as much as you can about investment property buying and selling. It is so rarely the case that you list a property, sell it, and go on about your day. The client that’s listing may also need to buy a home so you’ve got to keep that in mind as far as timing, pricing, etc. Learning to be flexible and adaptable will serve you well, not just in a real estate career, but in life.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I’m overwhelmed, I like to press pause so I can gather my thoughts. I’m a big list-maker so I write down everything that needs to get down and plan out a course of action to tackle it all. Typically, a long to-do list can cause some stress but putting a plan in place helps to aleviate that stress.
