Meet Caroll Lee

We recently connected with Caroll Lee and have shared our conversation below.

Caroll, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I was raised by Asian immigrant parents who taught me the importance of putting my head down, working hard, and getting ahead. While I always did well in school and at my various jobs, I didn’t truly know my purpose until I started listening to my gut instead of what others told me was the right thing to do. When I follow the ideas that light me up and bring more pleasure and play into my life, I not only find more success but also more joy. Play is a big part of my life now, and when the fun is there, my work doesn’t feel like “work”.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Provenance is a healthy prepared meal delivery service that helps busy people eat clean with nutrient-dense, ready-to-eat meals delivered to your doorstep. All our meals are individually portioned, made with whole food ingredients, and 100% free of gluten, dairy, and refined sugar. We also offer detox programs to help you reset, kickstart weight loss, and get back on track with a healthy diet.

We know that what you eat is a huge part of living well and aging well. Our mission is to help people feel like their best selves every day, making it easy to fuel their bodies with the nutrition they need to thrive and to prevent illness. This past year has been especially exciting for the company, as we’ve partnered with Equinox to combine healthy movement with healthy eating and have expanded our delivery zone to cover 98% of the US population.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1. Integrity
People come to Provenance because they trust us. We are as passionate about clean eating as they are, and they’re looking for products and services from humans they can rely on to do the right thing. Letting them know we will always uphold the highest standards is how we built trust and brand loyalty. You can never compromise on integrity.

2. Confidence
Believe in yourself. The answers are within you. When launching a business, it’s tempting to think you should follow experts or consultants with the “right” answers, but this is your company. A little “fake it till you make it” is okay at first. Follow ideas that spark your passion, solve problems your way, and learn from missteps to build confidence. If you don’t believe in yourself, how do you expect clients or investors to?

3. Support System
Who are the people you can turn to when the going gets tough? Having a support system has always been crucial to me. People who can listen when you need to vent or talk a problem out, mentors who can guide you from their own experiences, and friends who can help you let go of the stress and have some fun. Thank goodness for those people in my life. You know who you are!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Provenance is a clean food oasis in a landscape filled with ultra-processed foods that lead to obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other chronic illnesses. We protect our clients and help them age better by creating meals from scratch using only the most nutritious and highest-quality ingredients. I want to partner with other companies who believe that bringing our delicious, health-promoting food to their customers and employees will benefit society as a whole.
