Hi Jena, so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?
Mindfulness and gratitude! Self-care comes in many forms, and it looks different for everyone. I have built a strong morning routine that includes breathwork, meditation, journaling, and starting the day with a protein-filled and gut-friendly breakfast!
I will also include any form of movement and social connection throughout the day. I try to take any meetings while walking, and I love ending the day with an in-person event like dinner with friends, a wellness panel, a workout class, or staying in with my boyfriend and watching a good movie or reading a good book to balance the overall stressors of everyday life. Implementing these small habits into my routine has done wonders for my mental and physical health. It’s okay to start small as long as you’re consistent!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My journey’s three most impactful qualities were resilience, balance, and trust. Resilience was crucial. It’s all about how quickly you get back on track after a setback, adapt, and move forward without letting setbacks deter you. Balance was essential in maintaining a healthy approach to both my personal and professional life, ensuring I could continue pushing forward without burning out, which is a tricky task. Finally, you have to have trust— in yourself, others, and the universe!
For those early in their journey, I recommend focusing on these areas and practicing breathwork, mindfulness, and gratitude daily. Remember Mimi Bouchard’s advice: “Every moment you spend dwelling on a setback, thinking in the victim mentality, or focusing on disappointment, is a moment you are not moving towards your goal.” Balance your life by ensuring a sound social support system and not striving for perfection—launch and modify as needed! Have trust, be kind, and know that while the struggle is hard, it is necessary for growth!
