Meet Carly Cox

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Carly Cox. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Carly, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

I think we should do away with the phrase “imposter syndrome”. It brings people down in a time where they are trying to do something bigger than themselves, chase a dream, be successful. It is the negative talk in your mind that tells you that you can’t do something that you put your mind to. We are all beginners when we start something new, so we are not an imposter, we are a student. We are learning the ins and outs of a new industry and thats okay because every single person had to start somewhere. So to overcome these feelings I rewired my brain to tell me that I am exactly where I need to be, I will learn everything I need to learn and more, and I will be successful!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I run a platform online that offers free education to aspiring content creators on how to start their business and maintain it successfully. I have always had a desire to help others and starting @ugcbesties was originally for motivation for creators. I would post every day motivating my new fellow UGC creator friends because it is so hard to start this career and NOT give up. MOST people do! After about 6 months of experience my followers began asking me for #ugctips and education around UGC all together. It fills me up so much helping others, FOR FREE! I did write an e-book with all of the knowledge in one place, but the amount of free education on @ugcbesties is enough to get anyone started! I have helped people from all around the world start a business creating content. It is special to me because in a lot of the countries that my friends live in, there is not a lot of job opportunity. Creating videos for brands is a way for them to make money for themselves in a safe and fun environment. On top of education, I offer creator challenges, free features on my story, motivation and more! I love seeing everyone’s different take on how to create and I enjoy talking to my @ugcbesties every single day!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back on my journey as a content creator, three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that stand out as the most impactful are authenticity, adaptability, and a deep understanding of my audience. Each played a crucial role in shaping my path and success in this field.

Being authentic! Advice: Be yourself from the start. Share your passions, your struggles, and your victories. Don’t try to emulate someone else just because they’re successful; your unique perspective is what will attract and retain your audience. Authenticity can’t be faked, so let your true self shine through your content.

Adaptability! Advice: Stay curious and open-minded. Keep learning and trying new things. Don’t be afraid to pivot your strategy if something isn’t working. Monitor trends in your niche and be willing to experiment. Adaptability will help you navigate the inevitable changes and keep your content dynamic and engaging.

Understanding My Audience! Advice: Invest time in getting to know your audience. Use analytics tools to understand their demographics, preferences, and behaviors. Engage with them directly—ask for feedback, respond to comments, and create content that addresses their needs and interests. The better you know your audience, the more effectively you can create content that connects with them.

For those just starting out, focus on being genuine, stay flexible, and prioritize understanding your audience. These qualities will not only help you build a strong foundation but also sustain your growth and success in the ever-changing world of content creation!

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

The most helpful thing in my journey to help me be successful is COMMUNITY! I can’t stress enough how important community is when trying to build your content creation business. Just like a regular in-person job has community and networking, the online world has this too. To me it feels like I step into another world almost. The people and connections you make can have a direct impact on the skills you learn, jobs you get, and your overall attitude. Go out of your way to make friends that do what you do, it is priceless!
