Meet Daniel Lir

We recently connected with Daniel Lir and have shared our conversation below.

Daniel , thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?

If there’s one thing that doesn’t seem fair sometimes about life it’s that your attitude determines so much of your human experience and your outcomes. But on the other hand, this can also be said to be the best thing about life. Because I realized attitude is FREE and can be changed at any time.

Just the other day I was in awe watching two girls serve customers at an amazing health food restaurant. One was hugely interested in helping customers and was enjoying getting things done. The other looked stressed out and unhappy. They stood right next two each other while working but their two energies were vastly different and so was the universe around them and their impact on that universe. The positive girl was extroverted, operating at a high level of production, was in communication with others and had a sense of pride and responsibility. The sad one was mainly out of communication and almost robotic in her actions.

Therefore, I see again and again how obviously our thoughts highly affect our reality and human experience. As I learned in my Taekwando class, “thoughts create reality” and I attempt daily to practice this.

But the real test becomes, how do you stay positive, motivated and happy despite upsets and obstacles?

What I have learned over the years is the following and I hope it helps others. 1. Be around people who uplift you. Your team is so very important to your success and energy. 2. Take a nice walk when you feel frustrated, upset or sad 3. Make sure to eat healthy food regularly and sleep 8 hours or whatever number of hours you really need. When I get terrible sleep its easy to be in a bad mood which ruins everything 4. Be grateful for all that you DO HAVE rather than focus on what you don’t have. 5. Compete with yourself not others. 6. Celebrate your Wins and accomplishments 7. Start the day by writing what you would like to accomplish, be or have in your life and revisit these things frequently. 8. Start the day off with space rather than in front of a screen 9. Stretch or exercise regularly. 10. Have and follow your purpose in life and help others to get to theirs.

Its the small things surprisingly that can make such a difference like taking a warm shower which can put us back into that replenished positive state of mind from which we operate best. So I encourage everyone to keep doing whatever works for them whether its listening to a particular band or treating yourself to something fun, having something to look forward to or whatever works for you.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I create and produce films, documentaries, ads and social change work with my co-creator and wife, Bayou Bennett. For 16 years we have built our film production company, Dream Team Directors where we focus on inspiring and uplifting entertainment. We are driven to unite around stories that matter and have the intention to fill our audiences with hope and to open their eyes to new worlds and realities.

The really amazing thing is that we have been able to tell these type of stories with some of our icons like Mark Ruffalo, Michelle Pfeiffer, Norman Reedus, Coldplay, Lindsey Stirling, Jane Fonda and others.

Sadly much of entertainment is disturbing where life is already so. What gets us up out of bed every morning is our purpose to uplift and create a cooler, better world with our work. And it’s so rewarding to see that the world is making a shift and being a “changemaker” is becoming cool.

Currently, we are promoting our latest film, “Connection” which has a very important environmental theme and message. It is such an honor to be able to empower others with the story and the fact that they can play an important role in their daily lives through the decisions they make. Some of the decisions we encourage are for example: 1. Bring your own bags to supermarkets rather than use new plastic every time. 2. Shut off the lights when you aren’t using them. 3. Avoid single use plastic bottles but instead use glass and refill or qualified safe metal bottles 4. Buy local 5. Buy second hand or high quality long lasting clothes rather than fast fashion. Everyone making small changes like this multiplied by the millions and billions of people on Earth will lead us to the big change we are looking for on Earth.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I believe learning how to be persistent is a huge skill. Accomplishing anything important in life requires a tremendous amount of push through and staying at it and staying positive and grateful which is where this interview all started.

Learning as an artist everything I could about marketing, sales, public relations, management, money that I could has made all the difference in the world. By being able to think in these areas and confront them, I am able to consistently have a career as an artist. Without this knowledge I would truly be in trouble.

I was fortunate to learn about marketing and sales by studying at the Hubbard College of Business Administration and from the Closer’s survival guide by Grant Cardone.

Focusing so much on education, I became inspired to be an educator myself and now we have launched a course called the “Ultimate Content Creator Course” where we help entrepreneurs and startups build their brand, their following, their empire with something they all have-their mobile phone. All the incredible accomplishments and wins we have created for brands like Smashbox Cosmetics, Mastercard, Winky Lux, Universal, Coldplay, Adidas and more we share with the next generation of brands and entrepreneurs through our course. We help them apply marketing and sales through content creation to get more customers and confidently promote their product or service.

I welcome everyone to start taking advantage of our life changing knowledge and techniques by downloading our free E-Book, “A Modern Guide to Captivating Customers” which helps them understand and successfully present their story as a brand. Because customers don’t only buy products, they buy into the story of the brand.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed I take a walk or stretch or do martial arts or simplify my activities and focus on one thing that I have decided is the important thing to do. I put my energy and focus into that one thing and I ignore the rest for that moment. I work hard and with purpose to accomplish that particular task then I move onto the next key activity and so on.

Overwhelm is easy when you let too many things confuse you. So decide what’s important and narrow your attention onto that important action first.
