Meet Jericho Hatch

We were lucky to catch up with Jericho Hatch recently and have shared our conversation below.

Jericho, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

Growing up, I was a shy, introverted kid who often struggled with confidence and self-esteem. Social situations made me anxious, and I found it challenging to express myself or make friends. My world changed dramatically when I discovered the art of magic and sleight of hand

It all began one summer afternoon when my dad, introduced me to Criss Angel on TV, performed a series of street style magic that captured awe and wonder on everyone’s faces and it captivated me. I was fascinated by how a few deft movements could create such a profound impact. Intrigued, I continued to watch the TV series

With my first deck of cards, I practiced tirelessly. At first, I fumbled and failed, my fingers clumsy and my mind doubting. But as days turned into weeks, my skills began to improve. Each successful trick boosted my confidence a little more, each applause a testament to my growing prowess. Magic became my secret weapon against self-doubt.

Performing magic taught me more than just sleight of hand; it taught me perseverance. I learned that failure was not an end but a stepping stone. Every mistake was a lesson, every botched trick an opportunity to refine my technique. This mindset gradually seeped into other areas of my life, helping me tackle challenges with a newfound resilience.

As I grew bolder, I started performing for friends and family. Their reactions were priceless. The joy and amazement I could bring to others were incredibly rewarding. Magic became my way of connecting with people, of breaking down the walls of my introversion. It was a bridge that allowed me to share a part of myself that words alone couldn’t express.

In school, I began performing at talent shows and parties. Each performance was a step out of my comfort zone, but with each step, I discovered a stronger, more confident version of myself. I was no longer the shy kid hiding in the corner; I was the magician who could captivate an audience, the one who could make the impossible seem possible.

Magic transformed me. It gave me a platform to express myself and a means to build my confidence. The skills I developed went beyond the tricks themselves; I learned to communicate, to engage, and to believe in my abilities. Magic became more than a hobby—it became a pivotal part of my identity.

Looking back, I see that discovering magic was not just about learning to perform tricks; it was about discovering my potential and finding my voice. Through magic, I unearthed a wellspring of confidence and self-esteem that I never knew I had. It was a journey of self-discovery, one where the real magic lay not in the illusions I created, but in the transformation within myself.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Becoming a full-time magician has transformed my life in ways I could have never imagined. What started as a childhood hobby has blossomed into a vibrant career, opening doors to unforgettable experiences and remarkable opportunities.

In the early days, I performed at small private parties. These intimate gatherings allowed me to hone my craft and develop a personal connection with my audience. Every smile, gasp of surprise, and round of applause fueled my passion and reinforced my decision to pursue magic full-time. As word of my performances spread, I found myself increasingly in demand.

Transitioning from small parties to larger events was a significant milestone. Weddings, in particular, offered a unique challenge and joy. Being part of someone’s special day and adding a touch of magic to their celebration was deeply rewarding. Each performance was an opportunity to create lasting memories for the couple and their guests.

Corporate events presented another exciting avenue. Performing for large corporations required a different approach, blending entertainment with professionalism. These gigs expanded my network and introduced me to a diverse audience, enhancing my reputation as a versatile performer. Each event was a new stage, pushing me to innovate and elevate my act.

A pivotal moment in my career was embracing social media. Collaborating with major social media influencers and platforms dramatically boosted my visibility. These collaborations allowed me to reach a global audience, showcasing my magic to people who might never see me perform live. The digital world became a powerful tool to share my art, gain followers, and secure bookings.

The growth of my online presence translated into tangible success. I started receiving invitations to perform at high-profile events and international gigs. The exposure also opened doors to media appearances, interviews, and even television opportunities. Each step forward solidified my career and proved that magic was more than just entertainment—it was a viable and rewarding profession.

Becoming a full-time magician has changed my life forever. It has been a journey filled with hard work, dedication, and countless hours of practice. The transition from small private parties to grand weddings, corporate events, and major social media collaborations has been exhilarating. Every performance, whether in person or online, is a chance to connect with people, share a moment of wonder, and leave a lasting impression.

Magic has given me a career and a way of life that is dynamic, fulfilling, and ever-evolving. It has taken me to places I never dreamed of and allowed me to meet incredible people along the way. The journey from a passionate hobbyist to a sought-after professional has been nothing short of magical, and I look forward to what the future holds.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Embarking on a career as a magician, or in any passion-driven field, can be a transformative experience filled with unique opportunities and unforgettable moments. Here’s some advice based on my journey from a childhood hobby to a thriving career:

Value Each Experience

Every performance, no matter how small, is a stepping stone. Transitioning from small parties to larger events is a significant milestone. Embrace the unique challenges and joys of each new setting, whether it’s a wedding, corporate event, or social gathering. These experiences will help you grow as a performer and build lasting memories for your audience.

Building a career in magic or any creative field requires a strong network. Collaborate with other performers, attend industry events, and seek out mentors. These connections can open doors to new opportunities, media appearances, and even television gigs.

Always Innovate

To keep your act fresh and engaging, continuously innovate and refine your techniques. The ability to adapt and bring something new to your performances will keep your audience captivated and eager for more.
