We recently connected with Christina Florencio and have shared our conversation below.
Christina, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
In 2012, I transitioned from working as a volunteer to a paid team member at a non profit organization, Dress for Success. Their mission was to empower women into the workforce by providing attire, career support and mentorship. My role as the Marketing and Sponsorship Manager was one that helped me realize I was living my life purpose.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I currently own three businesses. I am the owner of REVIVAL, a vintage clothing and home goods store in Mount Pleasant, Vancouver. Our mission is to inspire consumers to lean into slow fashion and intentional living by providing unique, affordable and accessible clothing, home goods and eco-friendly options.
I also own a brand called Urban Tree Products. Urban Tree is a maker of eco-friendly and sustainable home goods such as charcoal air purifiers, reusable tea bags, coffee filters and more. Urban Tree products are sold at REVIVAL.
Lastly, I am a co-owner of a Digital Agency called Pulse Digital. We provide social media management, branding and website services to Real Estate Development. I currently work at Pulse part time.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Early in my career, I was hired at a large National Telecom Company at the height of a recession. Learning to work under pressure and lean into working in ambiguity helped build grit and tolerance for change. I wished I tapped into my network earlier in my career. I always felt too shy to ‘ask for a favour’ whether it was a meeting request or an intro request. The people invested in you are always willing to give time and or support however they can. Don’t be afraid to ask!
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
When I graduated high school, my Dad gifted me the book “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie. This was a life changing book that thought me the value of conscientiousness- one of the best personal and business traits that has been the most beneficial in my life.
