Meet Luke Deuce

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Luke Deuce. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Luke , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

My dad and I talk about how hard the music industry is, getting noticed, looking for break throughs and persevering because the hours are long and the work can be too. We have a saying, “every time we hit a wall, that’s where someone else quit.” And we keep moving.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I love performing and classic country music is definitely my vibe. Writing has been a natural progression for me, and if I’m not prepping for a show I’m likely writing or recording. I enjoy running my own sound for my band, and am always engaged in making things better. I know people look at me at 19 and think, wow he’s young. But I’ve been playing since I was 5 or 6 and performing since I was 12.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I’ve never been afraid on stage, in fact I’m more comfortable there than most places. People find it odd that I’m introverted, usually a nervous wreck selling merch between sets. On stage is a safe place for me. I have a good ear, and even though I practice and learn, a lot of what I do just comes out naturally.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

My dad. He’s never missed a show, he manages, guides me, plays if I ask him to (he’s not a fan of being on stage), teaches me about business, and he’s always got my back.
