Meet Tamera Anderson-Hanna

We were lucky to catch up with Tamera Anderson-Hanna recently and have shared our conversation below.

Tamera , so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?

My quote is “may your smile be brighter than any obstacles you face.” I have worked in the counseling and substance abuse field for several years to support the journey of healing and growth of others. I believe in the power of learning from the journey of others for encouragement and inspiration. My personal journey has included coping with breast cancer and empowering myself during the journey.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am trained in EMDR and have over 20 years of experience as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, Certified Addiction Counselor, and became a Registered Yoga Teacher while coping with breast cancer. I am now in private practice after years of working in not for profit in the substance abuse field. I look forward to continuing to support others in their process of well-being and personal growth. Sometimes life puts us on a challenging path and professional support can help guide the way.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Persevere, get support, look for the success stories or become one for others to follow.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

I was often told to leave the world in a better place than how I found it.
