We were lucky to catch up with Alice Martin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Alice, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I was told it is the New England work ethic, the very valuable ability to do whatever needs to be done in adversity. I began my work life at 16 and have worked now for 53 years as a banker, mortgage officer, tax accountant and Professor. I have juggled jobs for over 20 years and continue to learn daily. I believe in lifelong learning, an open mind and kindness and compassion go a long way.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
At 44 I graduated with my first Masters Degree in Liberal Arts and launched my time as a college professor at multiple colleges. After reaching about 22 years of teaching, I wanted to dedicate myself more to my spiritual gifts and reaching an audience that was curious, soul searching and excited about my content. In November 2020, I launched my channel: heartandsoulconnected on the YouTube platform while still teaching at 4 colleges online as well.
Over 3 years of dedication to my channel, I have hosted and introduced many new spiritual teachers for the community to know about! And, many of those have now opened their own channels on the site as well.
Combining my love of collaboration and compassion, I have taught my humanities classes about spirituality and my Youtube channel about humanities, offering many new and existing ways to access their own divine power and inspire others as well.
Last month, May 2024, I reached a total of 5000 subscribers and 59 members who are enitled to more perks and private sessions.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I have always felt that perserverence and resiliance are part of my own journey. I am always working to assist others and to listen to them and acknowledge them. I also am a planner and get my work done before deadlines, as procrastination is anathema to me.
As to areas of knowledge, I have been a lifelong traveler, learner and remain curious about everything. I was taught that one must do what one can, no matter how difficult it might be, in order to remain responsible to ones-self and ones family.
Interdisciplinary learning has served me well I also believe in higher education and developing the skills needed to succeed early.
I journal daily and keep a planner to make certain I never miss an appointment or deadline. Being prepared is the key to success.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I interview others and their talents and skills on my channel and am always looking for new people to introduce to my viewers.
Tarot readers, mediums, psychics, spiritual teachers, energy workers, akashic records readers, astrologers, and many other modailites have been collaborated with for the past 3.5 years.
I am open to working with you whether or not you have a YouTube channel. I value the contributions of the community and feel that it is of value to the collective energy of the planet.
