Meet Gabbi Sorensen

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Gabbi Sorensen. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Gabbi below.

Gabbi, sincerely appreciate your selflessness in agreeing to discuss your mental health journey and how you overcame and persisted despite the challenges. Please share with our readers how you overcame. For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience.

I struggled with debilitating anxiety for most of my life and an eating disorder for about 4 years. During those years, I kept my struggles hidden and was constantly trying to fill the voids by staying busy and chasing “success”. I worked as a fashion model for years and ended up hitting a low with my mental and physical health. I finally had my wake up call and decided to leave the modeling industry and open up about what I had been hiding throughout the years to those around me, and eventually on social media. This vulnerability opened up the doors for my healing. I went to school to become a holistic health coach and realized that I had this whole health and happiness thing all wrong. I was never going to heal if I continue to run and hide. I began to take one step at a time towards a peaceful, more soul filling life. I went to therapy and did the inner work and eventually found freedom from my eating disorder and my anxiety no longer rules my life. I’ve learned more than I can put into words throughout this journey, but none of it would have been possible without vulnerability. It’s uncomfortable, but it’s the only way to foster true connection and live the lives we were created to live.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a holistic health/eating disorder recovery coach and a health and wellness content creator. I get to walk with my clients through healing their relationship with food and their body and it is one of the greatest honors of my life! One of my favorite things about what I do is that I get to have a super personal relationship with my clients. I get to walk with them in their day to day and be there for them not only professionally, but also as a friend. I’m in awe everyday of the journey and so thankful that I was able to turn my personal struggle into something good.
I also love how I get to continue to share my life and encouragement on my social channels! Through my instagram, my podcast, my newsletter, and my TikTok, I have been able to connect with so many incredible people. It’s truly a gift and one that I see myself doing for a long long time! I recently launched a FREE Body Compassion Guide that is filled with tools to help you find healing on your body image journey 🙂

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Vulnerability, consistency, and connection. As I mentioned before, none of my healing could have happened without vulnerability. It is the gateway into deeper relationships and healing. It’s incredibly uncomfortable, but always rewarding. My advice would be to take some time and think about your life values and how your life is currently aligning with them. Then take the first step! The discomfort is always temporary 😉
One of the most helpful things when it comes to consistency is to think about your future self. I how will your future self feel if you stay consistent with healing steps? Always a helpful perspective change!

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

They loved me through it all and created a safe, stable foundation built on faith! I wouldn’t be even close to who I am now if I didn’t walk through this journey of life without Jesus and my faith. My parents truly modeled the love of Jesus and supported me throughout all of my ups and downs and twists and turns. They taught me how to radically love and have compassion for others and their faith planted seeds throughout my whole life for the healing I have walked into now.
