Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nieca Moore. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Nieca, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I believe my resilience came from the start of my alcohol company. To get to that part of the story let me start from the beinging. In 2015 while pregnant with my 3rd child I decided to quit my corporate job, step out on faith and start my event design company. I was very successful designing wedding and events for clients. One day I came up with an event of my own called Sips & Spades (a celebrity spade tournament) I would showcase black owned spirits at the event. The first year I did the event, the alcohol brand we showcased made a ton of money, so of course I wanted my own spirit to promote. The next year in 2021 I met a guy who later became my horrible business partner, he walked me through the process (lying and stealing from me the whole time). I created Bougie Vodka. Things got weird when I started asking to meet different people involved with making the product. When I finally met the distiller I was inform that he had not received any of the money that I gave for the supplies and inventory. Of course skpetcal to work with me based on being lied to by my partner like I was, he agreed to work with me only. I shut down to legally removed him(ex partner) and trademarked Bougie Vodka. Now starting from scratch I resigned the logo/bottles, purchased more inventory and secured major distribution and started to get the Bougie Vodka name out. Then in June of 2023 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and put the business on hold while I went through chemotherapy, a double mastectomy and radiation. I rang the bell for my completion of chemo in January 2024 and completed surgery and radiation in May 2024. Cancer free and feeling healthy I am back to work pushing the Bougie brand. We are in 30 stores & bars/restaurants and continuously growing. I am so glad God made me a fighter. I fought for my health and for my company.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am the owner of Bougie Vodka. Made in GA. Made with 100% natural peaches. Bougie Vodka is ultra premium, 6x distilled and 80 proof. Non-gmo, gluten free and vegan friendly. We currently have our Peach Vodka and are working on a spicy peach vodka. Our Bougie Good Girl will stay the original peach vodka and our Bougie Bad Girl will now be the spicy peach. Look out for the launch of the spicy peach by the end of the summer.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
One of the most important thing to know and remember is that you need to be hands on with your brand. Don’t rely on someone else to do what you would do.
Stand on your integrity, don’t ever compromise your brand for quick money or to impress anyone. It’s okay to shut down or start over if things aren’t the way you want them to be.
Love your brand or vision enough to do it alone. You may have to be a one woman/man show. it’s okay grow the brand and be selective in who you let be apart of it.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
In the last 12 months God has shown me who he is. After being diagnosed with BC everyone I knew kinda disappeared on me and I was alone. I had to be in a place yhat I was not used to or familiar with and the only person I had was God. He told me I would be healed and he told me I would be successful with my brand. He then sent in people that HE knew would be good for me and help me though a scariest time in my life. So my biggest area of growth I would have to say would be developing a strong relationship with God and tapping into my spirituality. I know that everything I have and I am comes from God.
