We were lucky to catch up with Tasha Reign recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tasha , you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
Generous is a word I would use to describe myself. I practice yoga and meditation and believe in Jesus Christ. For me, generosity is something that is in all of us: I live by the mantra “the light in me, sees the light in you” . In order to be as generous as possible, I believe you need to prioritize yourself. Once you put your needs first, it’s much easier to then be truly generous. I like to do little acts of kindness throughout my day. Whether that’s delivering my fresh chicken eggs to someone to show my appreciation., or supporting a friend’s small business, I love to be an active part of my community. I gain energy from giving back. Swinging by our local fire department with food, showing a genuine interest in others who you have no obligation to be interested in, smiling, bringing light into every room you walk into, these are all ways to be generous. Generosity in all of us.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Fairytale Cottage Topanga, has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. I love that my town has this beautiful, quaint, downtown area where I’ve been able to open my shop. We specialize in women’s and girl’s clothing. Our shop is full of the cutest, cottagecore dresses and jackets. We have adorable trinkets, jewelry, antiques, even fresh eggs! It’s truly a fun and whimsical place. We are online at www.fairytalecottagetopanga.com and in person on Saturdays and Sundays from 12-6 pm at 120 N Topanga blvd, unit 15, Topanga, Ca, 90290. What’s unique about our shop, is that we have a little bit of everything. We have something for someone in your life. Although almost all of our clothes are online, we have unique items that are only for sale in person at the brick & mortar location. So, you’ll have to come by! Think about our brand as hyper feminine, shabby chic, cottagecore, girly girl vibes. We are the perfect place for photo ops while you shop, our entire store is covered in flowers and the inside is pink and girly. If your wanting a cute pic for instagram and a nice drive with views, come by!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I’m really lucky to have had a mother who was a phenomenal interior decorator. She taught me a lot about style and leaning into your own, unique vibe. Early shopping trips to the fashion district, always having an immaculately decorated home, just being around her creativity and art was a huge inspiration and influence in my vision to start a clothing store.
A skill I have is producing. I can pick the right people and things to create. I have an eye for color and aesthetic in general. It’s just in my genes, I really lean into what my heart and my intuition is telling me.
Thirdly, I have an obsessive thinking pattern which can actually be helpful. Once I get my mind set on an idea or a goal, I’m great at the follow through.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
“The Power Of Now” by Eckart Tolle is a life changing read. I truly turn to it every-time I’m going through a challenge in my life. I had the honor of listening to him speak in person a couple years ago and he’s magical. He teaches that being present and “being the watcher” of your own life is the key to being here on Earth. To be in the “now”, is difficult but once I realized this, my life changed and became more clear. He speaks about finding life underneath your life situation. To focus on positive things and realize that you are not your mind. There are a million other take aways from his book and I highly recommend reading it if you’re interested in evolving or really enjoying your life.
