Meet Gizem Atalay

We recently connected with Gizem Atalay and have shared our conversation below.

Gizem, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

Growing up, I often had to prove myself and stand up for my choices, especially when I decided to pursue a career in art. It was not an easy path, as I had to navigate it alone without anyone to guide me. Many times, I had no option but to trust my instincts, and through perseverance, I managed to forge my own way.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a motion graphics designer, and my interest in this field emerged from my early passions for acting, animation, drawing, and movies. As I delved deeper into Motion Design, I realized it was the perfect medium for me to express myself as an artist and channel my creativity. The versatility of this field is captivating, from creating an Instagram filter to designing an entire projection mapping show for a concert. I was enchanted and hooked when I discovered the countless ways to be creative in motion graphics.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I believe the most important thing to start with is having the courage to pursue something you are truly passionate about, even if you have no one to support you. Building a strong foundation and having the confidence to stand on your own is essential before you can help anyone else.

The second most important thing for me is always being curious and committed to continuous learning, no matter how long you’ve been in your field. As we gain more experience and seniority, it’s crucial to maintain a learner’s mindset. This curiosity keeps us innovative and adaptable.

Lastly, patience is essential. This is something I’m still working on, but it’s important to understand that plans often don’t work out the way we imagine them. Sometimes things take longer, and you might need to start all over again. However, it’s important to trust the process and know that you will get there eventually.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I am always on the lookout for connecting with other artists! I think there’s an amazing creative community right here in LA. It’s inspiring to be surrounded by such talent and to have the opportunity to collaborate and share ideas with other creatives. I would love to connect with new creatives any time and they can always DM me on instagram for future collabs!
