Meet Donny Apollo

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Donny Apollo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Donny, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

Developing my confidence and self-esteem has been a profound journey shaped by my struggle with depression and recovery from a suicide attempt. During my darkest times, I learned to confront the fragility of life and discover the strength within me to keep moving forward. Each relapse became an opportunity to understand myself better and to rebuild reassurance from within.

Therapy, support from loved ones, and a commitment to self-care were vital. By setting small, achievable goals and celebrating each victory, I gradually rebuilt my self-esteem. Sharing my story and connecting with others facing similar struggles also reminded me that I wasn’t alone.

Today, my confidence is not just about overcoming dark times but embracing them as part of my journey. These experiences have become a prolific source of strength, fueling my passion to inspire others and showing that there’s always hope for a brighter tomorrow.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Yo, what’s up? I’m a music artist with roots all over—LA, Tampa, St Pete, Columbus, GA, Mobile, AL, Virginia, DC—but Nashville is home base for me, so big shoutout to all my Nashville family. Each of these spots has shaped my sound and style, making my music something special.

Right now, I’m hyped about dropping a new single this August. This track is gonna set the tone for the next chapter in my career, showing real growth and evolution in my art. It’s a vibe that I know my fans are gonna feel.

I’m here to remind the world that Bravo is Awake. This time, I ain’t letting up. I’m all about making music that hits hard and connects with people. Can’t wait to share this journey with y’all.

Stay tuned, I have something I’m excited about coming in August. It’s gonna be fire.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, there are three key things that really shaped my journey. First off, overcoming some serious mental slumps. I’ve been through some dark times, but pushing through that gave me the strength and resilience I needed. Second, defining who I am—getting back to myself. This last year had its struggles, but I came out stronger and more authentic. Lastly, family. My friends are my family too, and without their support, I wouldn’t have pushed myself to grow like I have.

For anyone early in their journey, my advice is simple: Keep pushing through the tough times. Those mental slumps are just temporary, but the strength you gain is permanent. Stay true to yourself, even when it’s hard to figure out who that is. And surround yourself with real ones who lift you up. Your circle is everything.

Stay focused, stay real, and never stop grinding.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

Man, the most impactful thing my parents did for me was being there, no matter how dark things got. Even when I was going through it, they showed they wanted to be there for me. We had our hiccups but what family doesn’t? My pops, a military vet, has been spending more time molding me into the man I wanna be. My mom and I have been growing our relationship a lot lately too. It’s wild how she can just tell if something’s wrong the moment I open my mouth laughs hysterically.

I love my parents, man. I’m blessed to have them. It took someone special to push through the darkness and my ego to get me back on track with growing with those two heaven sent humans. I’m grateful for them every day.
