Meet brianna Brown Keen

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brianna Brown Keen. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brianna below.

Brianna, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

My resilience is a product of both challenges and triumphs from an early age. As a child, I encountered obstacles that taught me invaluable lessons about perseverance and dedication. Despite initial struggles, I discovered the transformative power of practice and repetition, a trait perhaps fueled by my innate sense of meticulousness.

In sports, like soccer, I started on the lowest team but through relentless effort, I earned my place on the A team, eventually becoming a starting player. Similarly, in choir, despite being among the youngest, I was chosen to join the sophomore choir, showcasing my commitment and talent.

Moreover, adversity shaped my journey in profound ways. Enduring bullying and feeling like an outsider could have deterred me, yet it fueled a determination to define myself on my own terms. Rather than conforming to fit in, I found liberation in proving my capabilities to myself. This shift in mindset empowered me to rise above the negativity and embrace my unique strengths.

Ultimately, I learned not to let others’ pain hinder my progress. Understanding that hurt people hurt people motivated me to cultivate empathy while steadfastly pursuing my own aspirations. My journey has taught me that resilience isn’t just about bouncing back—it’s about leveraging challenges as stepping stones to personal growth and success.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Where do I begin? Over the past 25 years, I’ve immersed myself in the world of acting, carving out a path as a professional actor and producer of both stage and film projects. In 2006, I founded The New Hollywood, a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to empowering socially conscious storytellers and changemakers through strategic goals, grants, and mentorship programs.

One of our flagship initiatives is the TNH Accountability Program, which serves as the official alumni program for Harvest Home, providing crucial support to formerly homeless single mothers as they rebuild their lives. Additionally, I lead the Manifesting Your Mission (MYM) Mastermind Goal Group, guiding passionate changemakers, artists, and entrepreneurs using principles outlined in my guidebook of the same name.

As a keynote public speaker, I’ve had the privilege of sharing insights from Manifesting Your Mission, inspiring audiences and conducting accountability coaching sessions and retreats worldwide. Beyond my professional endeavors, I cherish my roles as a devoted mother and wife, doing my best to have a life that is balanced, joyful and adventurous.

This year, I launched the “Manifesting Your Mission” podcast, aiming to uplift listeners to “Rise Higher, Shine Brighter & Give Back.” Additionally, I proudly serve as the Chair Ambassador for the National Women’s History Museum, driven by my deep-seated belief in unlocking the potential and passions of individuals to foster a happier, more harmonious world.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Integrity:

Make integrity your cornerstone and guiding light. It’s not just about doing the right thing when no one is looking; it’s about living by your values consistently, regardless of circumstance so you are proud of your legacy.

Work Hard at Mastery, Then Work Smart:

Strive for mastery and consistency in your endeavors. Dedicate yourself to continuous learning and skill development. It has always been my budget priority to invest in myself and my continued education. Mastery provides the foundation for efficiency, innovation and excellence which simply means…practice, practice, practice until you figure it out!

Purpose Beyond Self:

Discover and amplify a purpose larger than yourself. When your mission serves a greater good, it brings deeper fulfillment and attracts support from others.People are inspired by those who aspire to make a meaningful impact beyond personal success. AKA: just be a good person and good will flow to you.

Turn Disadvantages into Advantages:

Transform your setbacks into opportunities by reframing them. I always try to use challenges as stepping stones for growth and to excel. I believe that finding the silverlinings within our pain has been the rocket fuel that has helped me leap frog over others who had more means, more connection, more talent and more education. I believe grit is a superpower that can’t be purchased or taught, only by recognizing that life was never meant to be easy and victimhood keeps one stuck. The only way out is through and to see what you can do, can change and being willing to learn. All the greats throughout time do this.

Use Pain as Fuel for Your Purpose:

Harness your experiences of pain and hardship as motivation. Channel that energy into your mission and let it drive you forward. Your struggles can become the catalyst for positive change and personal empowerment if you allow them to be.

I have found that by embodying integrity, pursuing mastery, embracing a purpose larger than yourself, and leveraging adversity as a catalyst, you’ll not only thrive personally but also inspire others and make a lasting impact on the world around you. To me it is really about what do I want my legacy to be? How do I want to be remembered? How can I leave this world better then when I found it? And how can I use the gifts I was given to add lightness and joy to those around me.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

Books.

I am always learning, listening to podcasts and reading on whatever subject(s) I’m working on. That simple habit has helped me become excellent at things where I was once average. Then when I could afford it, I always had a coach or two for different areas of my life to help me fast track. It really is that simple.

Be curious, specific and consistent at being a better version of yourself daily, and when you do that you will be Manifesting Your Mission. If you need help check out www.ManifestingYourMission.org
