Meet Nicole Mangina

We recently connected with Nicole Mangina and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

Confidence and self esteem are an interesting thing. No matter where you are on the continuum, it often feels like everyone else has more, and you are the only one experiencing doubt.

I spent most of my childhood and early adult life being very shy and insecure. I was the first one to opt out of an event or leave early, all in the name of being an introvert.

I kept waiting for external validation that I was good enough and that I was ready and worthy of my goals. Interestingly, the external validation did come, but I always discounted it for one reason or another. Eventually, I realized that true confidence and self esteem are an inside job. It is something we must give to ourselves.

I would love to tell you that my shift to being confident had a magical before and after moment. As in before this moment I was nervous and insecure and after this one specific moment I emerged confident and have not doubted myself since. In reality, it’s a process that continues to evolve. It still comes up from time to time, but now I recognize it for what it is – just an emotion that is part of growth and expansion.

Here are a few things that helped:

– I do a lot of speaking and writing to encourage others. In doing so, I often share past and current insecurities and what I’m doing to keep moving forward. Every time I share something vulnerable, I received the most incredible notes of gratitude from people who are feeling the same and love knowing they are not alone. It inspires me to keep going and keep sharing.

– The other powerful thing that comes from sharing is knowing that we are not alone. While I would never wish doubt and insecurity on anyone, it helps to know that others experience the same thing.

– I reframed doubt and insecurity as caring. If I’m nervous before a talk, it’s not because I lack confidence, it’s because I care so much about wanting to deliver a message that resonates. The insecurity actually helps me to be better.

– I’ve built a tribe of friends and co-workers where we support each other unconditionally. We show up as our truest selves. We celebrate wins, brainstorm problems and offer encouragement – no posturing and no need to pretend that everything is okay when it’s not.

Lastly, the absolute best thing that has increased my confidence and self-esteem is to embrace my uniqueness. My value comes from the different ways I show up. How I see the world and how I interact with others. No one does it quite like me. Just like no one does it quite like you.

My wish for you is that you find your tribe, know that you are worthy of your dreams, and that your unique gifts matter.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’ve been a top producing real estate agent for the last 28 years. During my career I’ve come to understand and appreciate the role that our mindset and energy play in our results. Throughout my career I’ve learned how to hone them with practices like visualization and others to increase my income AND my quality of life. I’ve done real estate with energy work and without and I can tell you all confidence that when you incorporate mindset and energy work, everything gets better.

About 15 years ago I started sharing my techniques with other real estate agents, business owners and sales professionals to see if it made a difference for them as well. The answer was a resounding yes!

Sharing this message, and teaching these techniques has become my life’s work. Helping others hit their stride with income and doing so in a way that allows them to enjoy their life at the same time lights me up more than anything else in the world.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

My 3 most important qualities are – being curious, being open and a willingness to be vulnerable.

I don’t have all of the answers, I’m not meant to do it alone. None of us are, but if I can cultivate these 3 qualities, the answers are available.

The number one thing I would say to anyone, no matter where they are on their journey – don’t think or feel like you have to do it alone. Get help and find your tribe. Your growth will be exponentially faster and better.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

I have always had a coach of one form or another. The actual ‘who’ has changed over the years as my needs have changed, but having someone in that role has been a valuable constant for me. The added perspective, the nudge when I need it and the realization that I don’t have to know all of the answers, I just need to keep moving forward.
