Meet Blanca Chivichon

We were lucky to catch up with Blanca Chivichon recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Blanca, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

Finding my purpose has been a journey that has unfolded and continued developing over the years. It took a deep exploration of my passions, spirituality, and all of my artistic endeavors to find the ways I can contribute to the world. I have found that my purpose is to inspire, create art, connect with others, bring light and positivity into the world and others’ lives.

From a young age, I always had a charismatic and upbeat personality that has helped me be a loving person as I got older. Although there were some difficult moments that shifted my world at the time, one thing that I never lost was my faith in the greater good and the kindness of people. No matter how many hardships I experienced, I kept my hope and faith in God that everything would turn out alright. I surrounded myself with books and motivational quotes that I would rewrite in notebooks and post-its to shift my
perspective whenever I felt low. When I was a teenager in high school, I ran a popular Instagram page that shared daily inspirational and motivational quotes. I found a really loving and accepting community among the viewers and that inspired me to begin writing my own poetry and sharing my art with others. By sharing my photography, writing, and art online, I found that I could heal myself through self-expression along with others who appreciate my art.

If there’s anything I want to do with my art, is to leave an impact in the world and bring some positivity to people’s lives. I’d like to be the helping hand and the light in the dark for others who have gone through hardships as well. I believe that acts of kindness, can create a ripple effect and change someone’s life to pay it forward and therefore create a more compassionate world. Whether it’s through a smile, a helping hand, a listening ear, or words of encouragement, I strive to make a positive difference in the lives of those I encounter. My spirituality and bible studies have taught me to love others as I love myself. I’ve carried those values with me through the years and continue to put them into practice. Spreading kindness, love, and compassion has always been my leading purpose.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Absolutely! My name is Blanca Chivichon and I am an artist based in Los Angeles, CA. I am passionate about creating and spreading positivity through multiple forms of art, including photography, poetry, acting, directing, and making music. Each medium allows me to express different facets of the human experience and connect with people in unique and meaningful ways.

Through my business, B. Chivi Photo, I specialize in capturing everyday moments and transforming them into eternal memories. Whether it’s a portrait session, an artistic photoshoot, live music photography, or special events, my goal is to tell a story through my lens. The most exciting aspect of photography for me is the ability to see the world from different perspectives and share that vision with others. I love the way a moment is captured forever and lives on to tell a story past our lifetimes. Photography is a powerful tool that provides future generations with a window into our modern day. There’s a magical feeling when a photo reflects the beauty and emotions of the moments that pass us by. Photography gives us a chance to immortalize a moment of life, making it a special and sharable memory.

Making music is another profound aspect of my creative expression. For as long as I can remember, music has always been there for me and inspired me to be an artist myself. Listening to Elvis, Chuck Berry, and Nancy Sinatra at a young age was life-changing. I’m grateful that my mother was very supportive of me in the arts and I had piano & guitar lessons and learned to play the bass on my own. Naturally, I began to express myself in songwriting, singing ,and eventually recording music. As I have continued to grow, so have my musical and artistic talents, which have all helped me connect and resonate deeply with others.

As a theatrical and cinematic person, I have worked in the television and film industry since I was seven years old and I pursued a B.A in Theatre Arts to grow better at my craft. Acting has been such an exciting and enriching talent as I bring characters and visions to life. It has allowed me to step into different mindsets and characters, and learn about human nature. Directing, on the other hand, gives me the opportunity to fulfill my visions and convey the emotions and story I want to tell. The stories we share are incredibly important, as we have to keep mindful of what we are teaching and showing the new generation. In a world that is constantly changing, storytelling is a powerful tool to inspire and bring people together.

As a passionate individual, who makes her life a work of art, I am thrilled to announce my newest projects on the horizon.

I am also ecstatic to announce that I am currently writing, playing, and recording music under my solo artist name Luna Blanca. I will be sharing the latest updates on my music and the recording process @lunablancamusic on Instagram. My musical influences include legendary classic rock artists and bands like The Doors, Led Zeppelin, The Mamas & Papas, and Nirvana. Feel free to follow my page to join me on my fun musical journey.

I am also playing in Vitamin XP, a Los Angeles based punk-pop band with which I recorded an album called Not Of This World. We are playing a show on July 25, 2024, at The Viper Room in West Hollywood, CA. I’m so excited to continue making music and performing live.

I believe that life is a constant work in progress and one can always continue to grow mentally, artistically, and spiritually. I encourage the readers to be open to new experiences, step out of your comfort zone, and find new ways to express your heart.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three qualities that have been the most impactful through my journey are creativity, empathy, and resilience.
Creativity is at heart of everything I do and the way I live my life. My advice to the readers who are embarking on their creative journey is to embrace curiosity, try something new, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes or take a break.

Empathy has allowed me to connect deeply with others and understand different perspectives without judgment. I encourage readers to engage with diverse communities to learn more about them, listen actively to others, and have an open heart.

Being resilient has helped me stay committed to my purpose, even when faced with obstacles. I advise others to set clear and achievable goals, bounce back from setbacks, and surround themselves with a supportive community. Believing in yourself and others can make a big difference.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

Over the past 12 months, my biggest area of growth has not only been my continuation in honing my craft in various artistic fields. I have also made significant strides in self-love and self-care, embracing body positivity and aiming to inspire others to do the same.

Recognizing the importance of mental and physical well-being, I have made a conscious effort to prioritize my own health and happiness. In an age where social media can easily take a toll on one’s body image and make one feel insecure, I have been on a transformative journey of leaving my insecurities behind and appreciating myself and my body for who I am now. I’ve learned to appreciate and celebrate my body, recognizing that true beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. This perspective has been incredibly empowering and has allowed me to embrace my authentic self. Online comparisons and altered celebrity photos have a huge effect on the mental health of the viewers and the younger generation. It’s important to practice self-compassion, spread positivity, and prioritize self-care so that we can continue to healthily live out our purpose in life. I aim to inspire others to embark on their own paths towards self-acceptance. I believe that by being open about my experiences and challenges, I can help others see the value in loving themselves just as they are.
