We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Carly Sioux of House of No Era. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Carly Sioux of below.
Carly Sioux of, so great to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. So, let’s jump into something that stops so many people from going after their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. We’d love to hear about how you dealt with that and persisted on your path.
The only way to win against haters and nay-sayers is to persist!
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
House of No Era is a vintage lifestyle brand seamlessly blending art, design, and object. I offer a wide range of interior design services, including staging, styling, sourcing, fine consignment and vintage resale. Currently, I’m based in a historic warehouse studio in Cincinnati, which serves as a creative space for staging, selling, and photographing vintage wares. Here, I collaborate with local talent as well as invite clientele to shop or discuss their design needs.
What sets me apart from other vintage dealers and resellers is my background as a stylist, artist, and designer. I’ve always been dedicated to creating high-quality, magazine-worthy design campaigns and content to promote my services and offerings. My experimental product reels in particular have garnered industry attention and sparked conversations.
I’m about to launch my next design campaign focused on Industrial Loft Living in the Midwest. The dream of 90’s Soho is still alive in Cincinnati! Folks can sign up via email to receive these quarterly catalogs ([email protected]).
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Photography, videography and, surprisingly, administration! For seven years, I worked as an office administrator in New York City while fronting a rock band as a singer and drummer. Although I loved the company, I often found the work dull. However, now that I’ve started my own business, I am incredibly grateful for that office management background. No matter how talented or creative you are, if you don’t understand the basics of business, you won’t succeed.
My best advice is to educate yourself on basic business practices and always stay up to date on the latest developments in your professional trade. Tenacity is crucial; embrace challenges and setbacks as opportunities to grow, and keep pushing forward even when things get tough.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am always looking for folks to collaborate with! I often art direct experimental product reels and high-fashion editorial photo shoots. To make these projects successful, I seek out visionary photographers, models, fashion designers/resellers, artists, eccentrics, and people with unique and interesting spaces and stories. I love to location scout and travel for these productions, and my sights are currently set on Detroit for the next one. I am excited to connect with creative individuals there or anywhere, really. If you’re interested in collaborating, please reach out and let’s make it happen—I would love to hear from you!
