Akande , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found purpose, while I was in secondary school, I saw that I was talented, like I have a lot of talent but I prioritized one which is art, In the long run, I was so focused on it, that all my zeal was on it despite giving another gift some attention, at the first place I was just passionately doing it, not for the purpose, I thought I could become an office Man, it was later after I have worked and worked, I decided to stick to art as a calling.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My name is John Akande, I’m a visual artist based in Lagos Nigeria, I paint fostering the voice of blacks, which is African and its tapestry, art is so special because it’s therapeutic, every human needs it and we all exist through the work of art, and i will be planning on my solo exhibition soon.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three areas of knowledge that are mostly impactful.
1. Zeal and passion, really helped me to persist and do more even through several failures, ups and downs.
2. Talent: My talent is my source, where everything started from, my strong potential to understand art easily as a result of having talent helps me learn fast.
3. Music and Animation made me see from the inside when u have access to your soul, there will be an awakening in the spirit to do things right.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
My biggest growth has been the new ideas I have for my work, I mean paintings becoming stronger and better, and adding new profiles to my resume
