Meet Victoria De Leon-Vallee

We recently connected with Victoria De Leon-Vallee and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Victoria, so great to have you on the platform. There’s so much we want to ask you, but let’s start with the topic of self-care. Do you do anything for self-care and if so, do you think it’s had a meaningful impact on your effectiveness?

I value self-care so much! To me, self-care looks like having my nails done, my hair done, and getting some time in our beautiful sun.
All of those things together make me feel like me!
When I put myself first, I’m able to feel good inside and out. I feel way more productive and overall happier in my day to day life, including at work. It’s like a domino effect!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Being a hairstylist is one of greatest, most rewarding jobs in the world.
Every day I get to wake up and help other women feel like the most beautiful, confident version of themselves whether that be with a major hair transformation or a simple blowout. I truly don’t think I could ever get tired of seeing my clients with the biggest smiles at the end of their appointments.

After a 2 year break from work due to my husband’s job in the Navy, we finally settled in Virginia Beach, Virginia last year and I have been building up my clientele ever since. The wait was difficult but so worth it! I’ve never been happier. I plan to continue learning and growing my platform so I can be the best hairstylist that I can be!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three qualities I believe were the most impactful on my journey have to be resilience, confidence, and my willingness to learn.

Resilience is something I’ve known since I was a little girl. No matter how many times my parents were knocked off of their feet, they always got right back up and kept going. Thankfully, that rubbed off on me and nothing will ever stop me from reaching my goals! The power to adapt when circumstances change or are different than expected is everything.

Confidence is the key to success. Even when you’re not feeling so confident, sometimes pushing yourself a little will take you that extra mile and you can do things you didn’t even know you could do. Hold your head high, you can do anything you put your mind to!

My willingness to learn is a huge part of where I am today. Don’t ever be unteachable! There will always be someone better than you. Take the opportunity to learn something from that person and apply it to your life or work. Growth is something that needs to be a constant in everyone.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

My ideal client is someone who loves a lived-in, natural look to their hair, as well as someone who loves a calm and relaxing vibe.
There is never any pressure on my clients for conversation or interaction. If you want to sit quietly, go for it! If you want to vent, let’s do it! I’m all about a judgement free zone and peace between people.
