We were lucky to catch up with Crystal Jordan recently and have shared our conversation below.
Crystal, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Developing confidence and self-esteem in Zachariah World involved embracing our unique qualities, celebrating small victories, and surrounding ourselves with supportive individuals. By focusing on strengths and achievements, we fostered a positive self-image and resilience.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
At Zachariah World, we focus on promoting autism acceptance, awareness, and emotional learning through engaging children’s books and resources. Our mission is to create a world where every child, especially those with autism, feels seen, understood, and celebrated.
One of the most exciting aspects of our work is witnessing the impact our stories have on young readers and their families. We strive to make a difference by offering relatable characters and heartfelt narratives that inspire empathy and understanding.
Currently, we’re excited to announce several new initiatives. We are launching a new series of books that delve deeper into emotional learning and social skills, tailored specifically for children on the autism spectrum ,and neurotypical children as well. Additionally, we’re expanding our outreach with events and workshops aimed at educating and supporting parents, teachers, and caregivers. Thank you for taking the time to learn about Zachariah World. We’re passionate about our mission and look forward to continuing to make a positive impact in the lives of children and their families.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on our journey at Zachariah World, three key qualities have been particularly impactful:
1. Empathy: Understanding and sharing the feelings of others, especially children with autism, has been crucial. Empathy allows us to create relatable content that resonates with our audience. To develop empathy, actively listen to others’ experiences, volunteer in community activities, and seek to understand perspectives different from your own.
2. Resilience: Building a brand and advocating for a cause often involves facing setbacks. Resilience has helped us stay focused and bounce back from challenges. Strengthen resilience by setting realistic goals, celebrating small wins, and viewing obstacles as opportunities to learn and grow.
3.Creativity: Innovation in our storytelling and educational approaches has set us apart. Creativity keeps our work engaging and impactful. Foster creativity by exploring new ideas, collaborating with diverse thinkers, and allowing yourself the freedom to experiment and take risks.
For those early in their journey, my advice is to cultivate these qualities through continuous learning and practice. Surround yourself with supportive mentors, embrace lifelong learning, and remain open to feedback and new experiences. With dedication and passion, you can develop the skills necessary to make a meaningful impact.
How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
One of the challenges we’re currently facing at Zachariah World is increasing sales and pushing our books to a wider audience. Despite our passion and positive feedback, reaching a larger market remains a key hurdle. We’re trying to focus on also building a strong, engaged community by hosting events and workshops. Our new goal is partnerships with schools, libraries, and autism advocacy groups are helping us distribute our books more widely. Additionally, we’re improving our online presence with a more user-friendly website and leveraging testimonials and reviews to boost credibility. By focusing on these strategies, we aim to ensure our books reach and benefit as many children and families as possible.
