Meet Stacy Baker

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Stacy Baker. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Stacy , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

I love this question because I think resilience is one of the most important parts of ourselves we can cultivate not just for career success or accomplishments, but for how we show for ourselves every day in creating a juicy, happy life.

I’m fortunate that I come from a very competitive family and a long line of women who are beyond resilient so a strong mindset wasn’t really an option if you wanted to survive beyond a “friendly” family card game.

That said, I do actively create a toolbox of habits and tricks to help me shift to a positive mindset and channel that grit when things don’t go as planned, which as a founder, happens a lot. I have hype playlists, I have a crew of friends I can text for a quick shift in perspective, I write power words on my mirror. It’s a whole thing.

One of my favorite tricks, though, is from Regan Hillyer, who talks about the idea of “spiraling up” versus spiraling down. So when something “fails” or you make a “mistake,” instead of letting your mind take you to the place of failure or defeat or stress or fear, looks for ways to spiral up… what did you learn? How is this situation preparing you for a better one? How can you turn this into a win? The more you do this, the faster and easier it is to shift so that disappointments, for example, put you one step closer to where you want to be. In the process you’re cultivating resilience.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

My focus right now is launching and growing my lingerie brand, Lunatic Femme. I created the platform to ignite women, to turn on that light inside of them that helps them show up authentically, however that looks like for them. I believe that our life force is our sexual, creative and sensual flow so when you’re in that ignited flow state, when your light is turned on, that’s your superpower and our brand works to help you get there.

We do that by designing lingerie pieces that inspire curiosity, play and self-discovery as well as a creating a playbook/blog filled with expert interviews, tips, tricks and ways to drive more pleasure.

As women, we’re often put into boxes or roles based on patriarchal rules and the male gaze, but what if we own the fact that we’re complex creatures with moods, emotions and that wild life force energy powering us? When we lean into who we are and all the complex, authentic aspects of ourselves outside of the lens of the male gaze, we live a juicy supercharged life.

As a brand, we want to do everything we can to support that.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Imagination — I think the power of our imagination is our gift. It allows us to dream, to innovate, to think outside of our circumstances, to reimagine new futures, to inspire action, to visualize goals into reality…. Foster it, grow it and lean into it with wild abandon.

Play — Similar to your imagination, I think play can help raise your energy, your happiness, your sense of adventure, your ability to solve problems. It’s one of the fastest, funnest ways to get into your flow state. And play doesn’t have to be a literal activity like “play a board game…” it can be your approach to life, a playful attitude, a spontaneous mindset, clever banter with someone new. It keeps your mind nimble, joyful and open.

Curiosity — As an editor, I learned to keep asking “why” when you interview someone and I’ve found that curious, hungry quest for answers, knowledge, newness leads to an adventurous life filled with possibilities. Even something as simple as walking into a new store, asking a bartender what’s in their hidden stash, reading books on new subjects can feed your brain and inspire your life in whole new ways.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?

I don’t think these two things are mutually exclusive. Yes, lean into your strengths and use them as fuel to get you to your goals. At the same time, I think it’s always a worthy investment to improve your skills in other areas. This is what ignites the imagination and stokes the curiosity that will not only improve your current strengths but also inspire the happiness, joy and playfulness that help you squeeze the juice out of life.
