Meet Mirna Martinez

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mirna Martinez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mirna below.

Hi Mirna , so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
I am a Latina from the Streets that made it out of the Hood and became a Successful CEO. I realize that we all have a purpose in life and that at the end of the day we are all worthy to have great things. I know a lot of people have a story but after hearing other people’s story, I began to realize that what I once thought to be a normal regular life was not nearly as close as I thought. I am glad I took a moment to change my circle but changing my circle meant being surrounded by people that were not like me at all, it definitely takes alot to adjust the mindset. Although I am the only one like me and it is intimidating at times. I have found that I am special. I am what is needed because I am authentic and proud of where I come from. Through my traumatic life story I can motivate, inspire, and encourage others. It definitely requires being very confident in who I am, and the value that I can bring to others to be able to sit at the tables that I sit at now. But I truly believe if God had me survive and overcame all the struggles in my life it was for a big reason and because of that I plan to stand by others that will see the value in me and help me rise while I help others with my purpose in life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Well as of right now I can say I do everything but sleep. I am very grateful to wake up every day. Wasting time is something that frustrates me very much and maybe this is the reason I wake up at 3am everyday. Currently I own 5 different companies with my husband. We have an inside joke that it feels as if we had seven kids instead of only 2 girls. Being an entrepreneur it is really not for the weak. It takes a lot of hard work, dedication, discipline, and lots of faith. My husband had a dream 10 years ago to change the security industry and during the pandemic we found ourselves in a very challenging position that forced us to take that leap to the unknown and the only thing driving us was the dream that my husband had. This was what was born National Special Force LLC was born during the pandemic. We are a woman owned company where we do Armend, Unarmed, Body Guard, Fire Watch, Pool Monitoring, Process Serving, Private Investigations, and Fire Watch. We also provide internship and mentoring for the next generation. Our company had its first location open in Fort Worth Tx and now we have a second location in Arlington Tx. We have worked very hard to make sure that our officers get paid well and our clients receive the best quality service that a security company can provide within our means. As we grow we get better and better at what we do. Because of this we ended up opening an Academy where we can train and certify our officers. Security Texas Academy specializes in providing Level 2 & 3 certifications along with License to Carry for the state of Texas. While in the middle of so much paperwork I realize that I have always wanted to become a notary and this would help us with our other businesses while also being able to help the community. Classy Ink Signatures LLC was born. We are a Bilingual Mobile Notary Signing Agent service where we help notarize general notary inquiries but also Loan signings for Real Estate and this introduce me to the world of Real Estate Investing where we help provide Home solutions to those that are faced with a obstacle that they did not plan to have such as Foreclosure, Inheritance, Divorce, or having to be back on mortgage payments. Now we help people get out of that situation and provide them a fresh new start and a chance to restart.

With that we were faced with a lot of remodeling and demolition which encouraged us to open our construction company Ground UP construction & Management. Here we are a license general contracting company where we specialize in interior, exterior, and demolition. Honestly I just truly love how we can give others employment.

Lastly we have Xtreme Emotions. This is a small retail store that we started when we were younger, a smoke shop with adult accessories that taught us how to be business owners and began our journey. But this little store became a hit at pop up events along with social media.

We recently had our ribbon cutting and we decided to do things a bit different than what other people do.
We did a Grand Opening Networking Birthday Bash and named it The GNB. This event consisted of a ribbon cutting that would have as honor guest the governor of the Lowrider community and the Mayor of Arlington Texas. We did a networking pop up where we had many small business owners come together to meet and connect, this was also done with the intention to help motivate that one day it will be them cutting their ribbon one day. We brought the Hood with the corporate world together. I know that there are a lot of people from the hood attempting to get out but just do not know how, and there are a lot of people as well in the corporate world where they are attempting to help others but just do not know who to help. Since I am on both ends of the spectrum I decided to bring them together. Then we top it off with my favorite pastime since it was my 30th birthday and that was a car/truck/ bike show. It turned out to be a great event. We even had a fashion show of women that had been in terrible situations but they had survived them. We had artists, Dj, Speakers and overall it was just a great way to show the community what we were about. We plan to Brand Xtreme Emotions. We plan to do a Signing Service with Classy Ink Signatures and continue to create Networking events, We plan to help others grow through National Special Force and Security Texas Academy programs that we offer. We hope to continue to expand and provide more jobs with our construction company Ground UP Construction. As for me, I am a motivational speaker that goes to high schools and helps the next generation change their ways before it is too late . I have made it my purpose to become the person I wished that I had growing up. The Goal is to one day publish my book that I am currently writing and maybe create a movie.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
So at age 29 was my last suicidal attempt, I tell you this because this is when my life started to change this is when I decided that enough was enough. I was done with pain, struggle, stress, and overall just not enjoying life there just had to be more to life than what I knew. I was 258lbs at 5ft tall, which is really overweight. I had arthritis and other health problems. I would wake up at 4pm attempting to sleep my days away. Finally at 30 I took a Mental, Physical, and Spiritual journey that even started a Financial journey. I had to seek help for my past and everything that I had lived through I found a Counselor that really understood mental health and traumatic past like mine she help me realize that nothing that happen was my fault and that there is nothing that I can do about my past but there is everything that I can do about my future and I can choose for my past not to define me. So I used all that pain as fuel to convert to energy to help me push through everything I once thought was right. It took alot to change my mindset. That got me started on my Physical journey. I went and fixed all my teeth first, and had to have 14 extractions. Then I had a Gastric Sleeve Surgery that my doctor kept recommending due to my weight and health issues but because of my family I would always push it off. Once I healed I had a Salpingectomy where I removed my fallopian tubes. Lastly I had lasik which gave me a beautiful vision and helped me see the world by its beauty and stop the use of glasses. Once I did all that I had my appendix removed. That was unexpected but it was all done in one year and definitely made me feel like a new person.

Lastly my spiritual journey when you are faced with having so much work done like I did and start going under the knife as much as I did you start learning about what it is to have faith and pray. It was hard at first to pray but now God is my everything and he has truly opened my path. He has guided me to now owning 5 businesses and provided me with a purpose to help others continue to move forward with my own life experiences. This definitely changed my financial situation. I can truly say I am blessed and very grateful but I know that this is only the beginning and with that I say check out my Social Media and look for my upcoming workshops and workbook that will be released July 15th of 2023. Where I give you everything that I did to change my life in a year and how it got me to where I am now. @Mirna92.22 #Mirna92.22

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shout out for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My skills have been taught to me by my traumatic life. I was raised in the streets and that on its own is definitely a career institute. I am glad that I am a risk taker because in business if you don’t take risk you will never reach your highest potential. I am very outgoing and social. That is another great point when you live in Texas and have businesses because we’re a business relation state. I do want to say thank you to my mentors and people that have believed in me since day once, when I didn’t realize how special I was they did and for that I am super grateful. But there is one person in particular that I want to say a Huge thank you to because he truly has been with me through thick and thin, through richer or poor. He has stood by me for over 10 years and has believed that I can be the person that I am today. That man is my amazing husband Nestor, I am so grateful for all his support and for believing in me when I didnt even think I could reach the place that I am in now. My husband has become my backbone, my motivation when I can’t even motivate myself. He knows that I was destined for greatness and together we can reach the unreachable places we never thought to ever step foot in. My oldest daughter was my angel that saved me and kept me encouraged to get out of the darkness that we were living in. My youngest keeps us very inspired to continue to learn and set the bar higher. Honestly I can’t wait to see all the amazing things that they will do in their life.
