We were lucky to catch up with Haoyang Sun recently and have shared our conversation below.
Haoyang, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I believe that the essence of developing self-confidence is to develop confidence in one’s ability to respond to unknown problems. Developing the ability to analyze problems and the willingness to meet challenges when faced with them. Gradually, you will become more confident when faced with things you are not good at or have not seen before.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am in the film industry and have been working as a Director of Photography, as well as a film editor for 7 years. Movies, to me, are a dream-making process, and the very thing of turning fantasy into reality is what excites me the most.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think analytical skills, empathy, and hard work are the three qualities that have been most beneficial to me so far. Analytical skills and diligence allow me to face new challenges and learn new skills well, while empathy allows me to communicate well with people. There is so much about dreaming that requires communication and cooperation with people and facing new things that I think these qualities are essential!

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
I think Adlerian Psychology is the book that has benefited me the most so far. Being an artist often involves analyzing and presenting one’s feelings, and the process is not always a happy one. Adlerian Psychology is the book I go to every time I’m in a depressed mood, and he allows me to be more aware of my feelings and acceptance of myself. This has been very helpful in calming my mood.
